Hello from future Bristol owner (hopefully) :)
« on: November 29, 2011, 02:52:41 PM »
Hi,

looks like I might finally be getting my A500 this week:D
I test drove one for the first time this October and I knew I had to have one. It just felt so right :P
Having driven a small 1.0L 67 BHP car since 17 it was quite a shock to see how quick the abarth was. I was genuinely scared at first when the dealer showed me what it could do!

So anyways I called up my dad and told him I was gonna get one, but sadly to get a new one I had to have my dad co-sign the loan agreement as a guarantor. Which he wouldn't do. I tried to explain that I'd pay for it and there was no risk for him cos theyd just take the car, but he was like 'well then if theres no risk then you dont need me to sign anything'.

3 Months on, and countless hours of overtime later, Ive finally managed to save up more money, and got my finance approved on a pre-owned abarth :D Without needing my dad to sign anything. I would have preferred a new one but meh, this ones just under 2 years old and has done just over 10k miles, and is also in my favourite colour (black) and happens to be several grand cheaper than a brand new one:P

Ive put down the deposit, and they're bringing it down from up north to Newport and hopefully I can get it this Friday. Should be an awesome drive back to Bristol. Insurance isn't too bad (I'm 20), its gonna cost me £450 to transfer the one from my car to the abarth until march, and then it should go down to about £1000 as I'll have 3 years no claims.

I'll just need to stop myself from buying stuff for it until I've paid it off lol (and I already have a few ideas).

Anyways hopefully you'll see some pics from me soon!

First of all, welcome to the forum and I'm sure you will find us to be a pretty helpful bunch. There are lots of pictures so you can get an idea what you are looking for, and what you really want.

Secondly, well done on your efforts in saving up for the car; hard work does pay off in the long term.

If you are free on 22nd December, then you could come along to the Bristol Xmas meet which Potter77 is hosting, so you can meet more likeminded people with Abarths.

Now I have to rethink how much I can deposit upfront :P But it shouldnt stop me from getting it hehe. Im booked in for Friday in the morning :thumb:

i had the problem with drive away insurance when purchasing my current car (fiesta), only covers the owner and their spouse, car was in my mums name because of finance  :thumbd:

i wouldn't have thought 7 days free insurance would make a considerable difference to your deposit though unless i'm missing something.

anyway, enjoy the car, bit of a silly thing to say i suppose

YAY:D

Ive finally got it :) I went over to Wales early this morning and had my abarth by 12. I was so happy to finally have it, and the drive back to Bristol felt like a bit of a dream with the sun shining and all.

Ive been driving it pretty much all day today and its so much fun. Havent had any pops from the standard exhaust though - is there a secret to it? And Im using the premium fuel btw. Not that Im complaining cos its sounds so good anyway.

Okays time to get some sleep now.

Great news  :thumb:

Sport on, drive it like you stole it,  try to change up while still at peak boost and approx 4.5k revs will help the pops, they will come  ;D
