Hello From Sutton Coldfield
« on: June 22, 2010, 08:07:30 PM »
Hi all my wife has now been running her a500 for the last month now clocked 600 miles, I have purchased a scissor jack and have modified a block of wood with a slot to accommodate the chassis rail these points being indicated on side skirts I have not jacked it up yet but it would seem the best way to support the car. On the washing side I have now started to use a washing mit and a grit guard in the bucket main reason I have got a black Scirocco and a drying towel to finish.

I was looking under the dash by the breaking mechanism which consists of a lot of heavy metal and was disappointed to find rust on various parts of it i applied some oil and hope this clears it up, the bar runs across to the passenger side there is a black plastic cover held by three screws i removed this to check for rust it was ok but surprised to find Ford on the molding?

As I said I have got a Scirocco 170 tdi but the a500 is a great little car and more fun to drive so a bit of a conflict has developed who drives what at weekend

regards

Hello PP

The Ford part is because at Tychy (the factory where the A500 is built) the group also builds the Ford Ka for FoMoCo and the cars have a lot of common parts which will have a FGA OEM number and Ford OEM number for the same thing.

Enjoy the A500 it is just so much FUN with a very large smile.

I have to say I keep re-reading the replies and can't see any scorn being poured.  ??? If you were refering to Lloyd's post he was being genuine, we had a 'competion' a while back to find the Lancia badges on our cars, no-one so far has seen a Ford badge although we knew there were going to be some on the 500  ;D.
