Hard to compare the two.
Personally I really like both of them.

Age is absolutely irrelevant if one has taste :thumb:

The Abarth is certainly the more usable car in everyday life (space, if relevant).

Not an exact comparison at all but I went from Honda S2000 as a daily car to Abarth. I don't regret it.... ;D

MX-5s are great cars, but the 500 is more than a match for it on track, and at your age you shouldn't worry about looking silly  ;).  You won't and you'll love it. Ignore the wife - she'll be after it once you've got it!

My wife had an MX 5 until recently - I felt more of a 'girl' in that (but still great car- modern day MGB for us older chaps) compared to our new Abarth. I'm 53 - at our age we shouldn't worry what others think - go with your heart!

Hi
Thanks for all the replies, keep them coming ! as its only the wife that thinks i am mad getting rid of of a mx 5. Your replies will make interesting reading for her and hopefully bring her round to a 500.

I remember years ago when my uncle got rid of his Opal Manta for a Peugeot 205 GTi.....I thought he was mad! Didn't take me long to realise the error of my ways :thumb:

57yo and a permanent grin when sitting behind the wheel. Maybe silly - but good for the soul!

Easier to get in and out of, particularly after a weeks snowboarding, than the MX-5 would be.
