New Brummy Booster
« on: December 19, 2011, 01:11:40 PM »
Afternoon all,

I've been a guest reader on this fab forum for the last 3 months so thought it was about time I joined. Wifey and I have had motorbikes for the last 10+ years and never had a need for a car, however after the last 2 terrible winters we decided to call it a day and bought a Fiat 500 with the intention of sharing. We shared it for about a week then I never got a look-in!
We went to MITcar in August and I saw (and heard) these cool little cars called 'Abarths' - "I quite fancy one of those in a few years time" I thought.
About a week later I popped down to Research in Nuneaton, just to have a look of course
Loved the test drive but didn't fancy the 13 week waiting time so a week later I was driving around in my (showroom stock model) Abarth 500:
Campovolo Grey, skydome, red stripe & mirrors, Monza exhaust - I had no intention of buying the exhaust - until I heard it ;D
I've loved driving it on my daily commute to Wolverhampton for the last 3 months and certainly don't miss biking. I'm ashamed/embarrassed to admit I've never looked under the bonnet, although this will change shortly as I'm about to order one of Daron's magic TMC chipboxes. (Quite fancy the sneezy-kitten turbo mod too)
I've only seen 2 other A500s in Brum, a Red one at the Scott Arms and a White one in Witton last week - anybody from here?

Cheers,
Dean

Hi Dean and welcome.
Make sure your wife does not get hold of the Abarth keys - you certainly will not get a look in ;D

Welcome here.

While I am not one of these two you've spotted, but you might spot mine when I go into Birmingham as I live in Solihull.

Ha ha, a familiar tale......... going from "I'll wait a few years" to "the 13 week delivery time is too long"...... how many of us have been there!

Welcome, and look out for the numerous meetings that will take place before MITCAR 2012.

Had a Triumph Daytona 650, missus had a great little CBR400. Got rid of them in October so I could get my new pride and joy in the garage. Insurance is costing me about £800pa with Admiral as the bike NCB was non-transferable >:(
