Tuning
« on: November 02, 2010, 05:37:23 PM »
Hello everyone,
I'm new to the forum. I am the owner of a white esseesse Grande Punto. I have been looking into getting one of the TMC tuning boxes for the car. I was wondering if anyone who has had this done could recommend an insurer who won't charge the earth for this modification. Thanks.

Welcome, slowly pulling all the AGP owners out the wood work :)

Bit of a loaded question that one as generally insurances are going up by upto 40% across the board  :thumbd: Admiral have proven a number of times  to be reasonable with the increases, Directline (and all other RBS group companies) won't touch em with a barge pole going so far as to cancel policies on the spot  :thumbd:

Happen to know Chris Knott won't touch them either as they are just too good and raise the bhp by more than they allow ;)

Lloyd will be around shortly and remind us of his insurers I think it was RAC though

yep, RAC which is actually Aviva insured me with the TMC for less than i had been paying with more-than before the mod.

More-than will not touch any mods and cancel cover as soon as you tell them

Thanks for the advice chris and lloyd. I'll give aviva a try. I was in liscombe abarth dealership the other day because my Grande Punto abarth is going in under warranty to have the suspension replaced on the drivers wheel. Anyway the salesman was trying to sell me a Grande punto evo. What have the designers done to the stylish shape? They have ruined it and the interior is cheap and tacky. On top of all this they have put a far too high price tag on the car. sorry about that rant over.

I agree with you dave the agp is a far better shape than the evo,and yes the evo is way overpriced in my opinion. :aurelius:

Personally I don't mind the exterior of the APE, i think its very nice infact! Its the interior that my main gripe is with... but, each to their own and all that, if we all liked the same thing the world would be a very boring place!

I can certainly recommend the TMC box tho  :thumb:

I'm buying for practical reasons, I'd love a 500 but its not big enough, I have two grown kids and a dog so I need more space than the 500 can offer, secondly I wanted the garrett turbo and the multi air engine (because I want to do some work on it ;)) and a sunroof, that greatly limited my options to only the EVO. I agree that some dash materials don't look great but personally I think the seats look fantastic. The outside appearance appeals to me but as someone said horses for courses, I like it, some don't.
The AGP is a great car but not available new any more so anyone looking to buy new can only buy the EVO, I think its a car that will grow on people over time.

Seats are fantastic and very comfortable hope you do not get a squeaky one tho I have had another seat in the car and it does the same I'm now contacting Abarth Uk. I bought the car because of the extra room needed but it's still quite small inside but a nice place to be performance is getting better the more miles go on and the attention it gets is astounding everytime ive filled up some asks what it is lol oh and err each to their own no need for the AGP versus APE rubbish

Going to be a sting here for agp owners, i have driven both at length, whislt he agp is a good car the Evo is so much better, more
refined i think the  phrase is, i am not just saying that because i am buying one either . How many agp owners have driven one.
Hands up. the only  mod i will do as Daron knows is a tmc, still havnt finished playing with the 500 yet ;D Oh there is still an unregistered agp around i think if anyone wants one.
WHOOSH BANG!
