Waiting for my 500 SS
« on: April 08, 2010, 11:36:19 PM »
Hi, I placed an order for a 500 SS today, and I really can't wait for the day to arrive when I'll get the phone call to come and pick him up.

I went for black with red stripes and wing mirrors. I've been trying to convince friends to freeze me and then thaw me out in three months time when it arrives like cartman in south park while he waits for the wii.

The only difficulty that I seem to be coming to is how I'm going to tell my lupo of eigh tyears service that he's going to be retired  :'(

Oh dear! These are just the first symptoms. Inability to sleep follows shortly; then obsessive counting of days; looking at pictures; making sure everyone you know is told about your order (and even people you don't); and (not that I'm quite there yet) tracking the ship carrying your car I believe.......Oh, and I bet you clean and polish the Lupo this weekend!

Yep, having a tricky time sleeping at the moment. And am spending most of my time looking on the Abarth website, speccing and then respeccing my car.

When I phoned the dealer though I only got the basic options on the car (no xenon's, climate control,) just because I wanted to make sure I had enough cash to splurge for the Sabelt seats. However, the gadget addict in me quite likes the look of the navigator with telemetric functions. Is this different to the Blue and Me system? And can you fit it after the car arrives if I wanted to upgrade in the future?

I know I should really ask the dealer about this but the thing is I've rung them so many times already out of excitement that thery are going to get a restraining order put on me and then I wont be able to collect my car.

Ha ha ha! It's not just me then. It took me 17 days post-order to weaken and order the Sabelt seats. Not sure about the navigation system. It may be you need to stalk your dealer at least one more time.... It only took a month for my car to be fixed in production though so if you are going to change your mind, make sure you do so soon!
Have you considered the Monza exhaust? That's were I am up to on this whole business. Really, really want one but am beginning to believe those of my friends who keep saying, "I can't beleive you are spending that much money one of those!" but at the same time, I just know it will happen.  ;D

Consensus is that its a waste of time and money. :thumbd:

I think it utilises the B&M platform.

Thats a bummer, I'm going to have to research for a decent sat nav. For years I've relied on printouts and using my mobile broadband with google maps and they are getting worse and worse. And I think the 500 deserves something special.

I've ordered the Monza exhaust, four tail pipes you'd have to be a mentalist not to want a car with four tail pipes  ;D

I'm getting mixed responses from my friends, one or two think its the best idea in the world, the majority of them don't recognize the difference between an Abarth 500 and a Fiat 500 (they don't drive  ::) ) And one or two people at work are taking the p*ss out of me at work saying its a girls car, but I don't care what they think. Having test driven the 500 SS I could find out the real reason its called the 500 is because 500 puppies are killed to produce each car and I would still want to buy one.  ;D

Never seen it myself, but HP's got the consensus right.  TomTom One is simple, cheap, effective and has an abarth 500 icon.
