I've seen a black one around Livingston.
Ninja... they are approx 3.5 inches in depth.  Not sure what the official ones are to be honest...  I wouldn't expect these to be bang on, unless by some coincidence.

Took a couple yesterday to test out the new camera.  No fantastic scenic shots though.

Nah, it's one of these new generation Compact Superzoom cameras DF.  I'm no expert photographer, so an SLR would be wasted on me.

It's a Panny Lumix TZ8...  I wanted a Compact, otherwise I'd never take it out with me.  Wanted at least x12 optical, wide-ish lense (28mm or better), capture Video in HD, and also allowed me to 'manually' play with exposure/shutter speeds when the mood took me (rather than using one of their pre-set modes).
Was gonna buy a TZ10, but decided that I really didn't need GPS tagging, so the TZ8 ticks the boxes I wanted.  Was either that or the Nikon S8000 or Canon SX210...  played with all 3 (similar specs).. Panny just felt better in the hand.

Those images have been reduced down to just 25% for uploading, so no-where near the quality of the image on my PC.  The video capture is very impressive for a compact though.  Very clear when maximised on the PC screen, and looks good when playing back on a 42" screen as well.

PS, it was down at Portobello Beach... had to keep the kids occupied while the wife was getting her hair cut).

Camera 1mth old...  dropped in the Caribbean Sea!!!
By my wife I hasten to add (although naturally it's all my fault).  A misplaced foot & a well timed wave when exiting a pedalow saw it taking a salt water dip for about 10secs.  Retrieved it, but it was dead.  Been drying out since coming back from holidays & now seems to have sprung back to life again although the LCD screen has a few blotchy bits.
Hopefully it will continue to work...

Side stripes are atad on the skinny size but you'd only be able to tell the differance if you was parked up against one with factory stripes, cant say I like the scorpions but the white bodywork with the white mirrors looked ace, nice contrast to all the white cars with red mirrors and stripes.

The scorpion on the roof was taken off the next day...  I wasn't so sure about it myself & the wife confirmed it when she saw it.  Only reason I put it on the roof was because I was supplied with 2 & didn't know what to do with the spare one.
So it's only the bonnet scorpion which remains (like the one's you get from Abarth).

I think the side stripes probably are a touch thinner.  3.5 inches deep... not sure what the official ones are, but like you say, I think you'd need to be parked up against another one to be able to spot it.

I originally toyed with getting a set of red mirror caps... but I think I now like having them white, so it's a bit different from the other white cars with red stripes/mirrors.

I've never been a polisher type of guy, but I finally got a chance to clean up the 500 a bit at the weekend.  It had been sporting some lovely inch wide black streaky runs from the wing mirrors down to the sills... which complemented the bug infested bumper & brake dust covered wheels.
Thought I'd give this Autoglym stuff a bash, since I'd stocked up at the recent Halfords promotion.

Started at 4pm on Saturday & began with a light pressure wash to get the worst off.
Then I used the detergent bottle/spray attachment with some Autoglym Car Shampoo & Conditioner... which seemed to give a decent foam & used a microfibre mitt to clean by hand.
Rinsed with the pressure washer again.

Moved on to the wheels & gave them a spray of Autoglym Clean Wheels...  agitated with a different microfibre mitt... then rinsed.  I was called in at 6:30pm for my dinner.. so decided to leave it there for the day as the car wouldn't be moving anyway.

Sunday at 2pm I got a chance to go and start again.  Applied some Autoglym Super Resin Polish to all painted body parts...  cue another fresh micrifibre mitt...   and then buffed off with yet another mitt.  Also decided to apply some to the wheels to give a barrier against future brake dust.
Finished off by giving the body & wheels a treatment of Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection in the hope that it will save me having to go through the whole thing again in a few weeks... left 1hr & buffed to a nice shine  Cheesy

Alison is away with the 500 today to work, who knows what state it will come back in... so took a couple of pics to remind me (back to the old camera as I'm awaiting a replacement to arrive for my broken TZ8) :-
Hard to get a reflection shot on flat white.. but I guess this shows a bit

Very nice, although I think if you keep up to it, you don't need marathon cleaning sesssions.
