Grey and Black Scorpion
« on: March 13, 2011, 05:38:24 PM »
Picked up my brand new Abarth 500 on Thursday.  I managed to take a couple of photos over the weekend.  Unfortunately I dropped my camera the weekend before which shattered the lens, so it's strictly photos from my phone for the moment.

So far I've replaced the DRL blubs for the white PIAA ones and the main beams for philips extreme power, both being much better.

Hope I've added these correctly and within the size constraints!  I had problems embedding photos from Flickr :(

Good Morning,

I changed the bulbs for the headlights as I had a 1.4 Fiat 500 previously and used to do alot of night driving, I found the headlights to be pretty useless on dark country roads so hearing that the headlights were the same I thought it might be worthwhile upgrading the bulbs, especially considering there is a good chance I might be going a tiny bit faster .  I have yet to do a proper night time drive but they do seem noticably brighter.  I changed the DRLs just because they look nicer in white...

Thanks for the kind words everyone, I must admit, I'm still at the stage that every time I see it, I forget for a second it's my car and then have the immense pleasure of remebering it's all mine!

Change the bulbs yourself, its not hard.  I put those PIAA ones in mine.

Interesting combo, especially with black leather too.

Hi, are they H7's for the headlights?  How difficult are they to change?

Hi, are they H7's for the headlights?  How difficult are they to change?

I got all my info from a thread about bulbs on here (thanks to all the contributors to it):
http://www.abarthforum.co.uk/500-abarth-tuning/500-bulbs/

To be clear though:
Main beam headlights are H7
Full beam headlights are H1
(Is it shameful that I didn't know there were seperate bulbs for the main beam and full beams until I looked on here  :-[)

I got them from autobulbsdirect.co.uk who seemed to be a pretty good retailer.  I chose the Philips X-Treme Power, 80% extra light, they have various different extra percentages of light, but the 80% ones are best reviewed so I chose them rather than the more expensive 100% more light versions.

Got the PIAA DRLs from http://www.piaaonline.co.uk/search/results/H366%20H-366  who were also fine.

In terms of fitting, I am notoriously clumsy so I decided to get someone else to do it, I ordered my bulbs too late to get them done when I picked it up so had a local Fiat garage do it for me

Apparently they had to take my bumper off to change the drls, although I'm not sure if I believe that.
