Don't worry to much about the error codes, computers need a minimum amount of voltage to work correctly and when they don't they can cause many random errors and symptoms. Makes us alot of money when computer failures come up on dashboards when someone has left their worklights on!  ;D Exhaust shouldn't be a big job. You not go for a race battery to save some weight

haha i just needed a battery asap. Only downside is its not as tall as the standard 1 and there's no adjustment in the strap that holds it down. Had to pack it out with a lump of would and some foam!! Looks horrendous but does the job:)

exhaust shud just need tightening i think, be nothing major so shud be sorted in the morning

Right I thought it was about time for an update.

As many of you will have seen I have had a few problems with her over the last 2months:(

1 - some nasty flat spots and just a general sluggishness.

This was resolved by an change of Spark plugs and a mini service:) Turns out that the existing plugs were very loose and may well have had a dud in there which was causing the mis-fire like symptoms. Easy enough fix in the end and was over th moon with her again.

2 - Took the car to Blyton (what a fantastic day and something that shall be done more often)  and somehow managed to buckle an alloy BADLY.....I think this happened on the old road heading to the track.

This will be resolved soon enough:) Hoping to have some new wheels on order by the end of the day (if i can make my mind up finally on a decision I have had to try and make over the last week).

3 - On returning home from Blyton (this was looking to have been a very expensive day) I lost boost pressure. limped home with very little power.

After giving Wessex (Yes thats Wessex Cardiff) my car to sort out (something i had sworn never to do again) hopefully under warranty, they could find NO problem with any of the components. Supposedly following many instructions from Abarth UK to check certain things (boost pipes for leaks, sensors etc) they determined after 6 full days of working on my car that it was not getting full boost!! Now I know i'm no Einstein but this is exactly what i'd told them when i'd dropped her off.
Abarth UK decided at this point that it would be best to send in 1 of their techs to take a look, this was arranged for last friday and so the car was left with them as I was off to spain on saturday.
It would seem that either Wessex did little (if nothing at all) to find the fault because after 2/3hrs of the Abarth tech arriving to strip the engine he had determined that it was being caused by a problem with the 'Re-circulating Dump Valve'. Part ordered and all being well would be fitted at the beginning of this week.

So I am now home from sunny spain, and am getting ready to go and collect my car from Wessex. I have been trying to decide whether to just cut my losses and trade her in.....I was given a fantastic offer by Renault last week on a brand new clio 200 with every possible extra including leather re-trim for 17k!!
But after 2weeks without my beast I think I have made up my mind to keep her and improve her:)
This forum and the friends I have made through it have been a BIG help:)
I am just hoping that all is working well with my car again.

I'll update some pics later of the alloy etc when i can get near a computer.

Cheers guys and gals and thankx for reading.

Can’t really knock your choice of the Renault they are good motors, been tempted myself by them plenty of times, you will miss the torque, though probably enjoy some high revving goodness on track, if I was going to go Renault sport it’d have to be the Megane personally, the clio would not suit my lazy motorway driving style with no turbo. If my other halfs Renault build quality is anything to go by over 3yrs /60k you'd be happy, I’ve had zero reasons to visit a dealer (well a fuse blew and I couldn’t find it as it wasn’t in the manual, but apart from that) and there are still no rattles/squeaks etc. Awesome, it just works, not that my Abarth has been bad but I have had to visit the dealer for the odd niggle, to be met with the same response you got, they can find nothing wrong, it’s Wessex too though ::) .

buckled alloy, you would of surely felt that on the track, its quite possible you could have done it on track if your pressures were a bit low but again you probably would of felt or heard it dig in.

It’s a bit of a bummer when you have a fault that is hard to trace and a useless garage, dump valve can be a weak point, often leaky due to weak springs leading to a laggy motor, you’ll probably find the pick up from your motor more impressive that you remember as it most likely would have been a gradual fail.

Hope its all good when you get it back.

Well now the car's all fixed again (apart from the wheel) I've been looking into some more upgrades.
Instead of the new alloys at the moment I am picking up a set of standard Abarth alloys for the winter, couldn't say no at the price offered to me. Many thanks to a certain Abarthisti :thumb:
The plan is to then purchase a new Esseesse alloy and have them all powder coated after Xmas ready for the summer.

After taking John501's APE Esseesse out last week I can safely say that I need the Koni's on my car, this is probably going to be done mid 2012.

And I'm also having the Forge Intercooler fitted, hopefully next month if my finances allow.
This will be followed by a custom Exhaust manifold and possibly de-cat and custom map with all these parts fitted ;D

Muzzrace workshop & GotBoost are going to be carrying out the work for me, I'll be taking the car down for them to have a good look at next month, Muzzrace are currently out in New Delhi building Racecars for the support races for the F1 next weekend (alrite for some eh).

Car was in the garage again yesterday, turns out the problems I was having were caused by the Vacuum hose snapping away from below the turbo ??? Something like that anyway.

Now it's been fixed I have been driving around all day with the biggest grin ever on my face :)
Not only does the car feel great but my exhaust is now popping and banging  ;D

Great fun again.

Small update.

I fitted a TMC Induction kit not long after Christmas and have just had new wheel (to replace the buckled one) delivered and all wheels re-sprayed.
Shall get some pics/videos up soon :thumb:
