Hi All,
After a month or so of searching and absorbing as much info from this splendid forum, I've finally got myself an A500SS. I had been convinced to buy one once I had had a go in a Funk White SS which my friend recently got. The performance blew my mind!
Firstly have to say what a great forum this is. It's really intuitive to navigate and answers to questions are so much easier to find than others I have experienced. Good stuff.
So the car...
I decided to buy Hozepipe's A500 after seeing it in the flesh. I was determined to get a Campovolo Grey Esseesse example and having done my homework on Mr.Hozepipe, I was satisfied that she had been very well cared for, maintained and also has just the right amount of kit in terms of red leather seats, skydome and TMC box. -No silly decals or mods.
I had a hefty drive from Reading back to Bradford but have to say I loved every minute. So much more fun to drive than my Alfa Romeo GT. Obviously much more responsive and there is a sense of occaision everytime I get behind the wheel. -Hope that doesn't wear out. Having had her about a week now and done the rounds with family and friends, feedback has been fantastic after initial pi55 taking comments. People seem to understand when they get behind the wheel. It's a real drivers car.
In terms of the future, I only have a few further things to change on her. She's currently at The Wheel Specialist in Garforth to have the white SS wheels refurbed and coated in Dark Anthracite which I prefer with the CG paintwork. I then plan to get the front windows tinted slightly to match the rear ones but obviously as best I can within legal parameters. I would also quite like to add koni dampers in 6months or so and after year or so...maybe an exhaust. Either Monza or custom system from Zorstec. If I'm completely going for it, I may opt for some Sabelts as I have to admit I find the seating position quite high, especially being 6ft.
Here are some pics that Hozepipe took for me when selling and I will take some shots tomorrow of the new look wheels. Hope to be an active member on here and would be good to meet up with a few other enthusiasts in the near future. -Nothing weird I hope!!
