Red Abarth 500 + Few mods
« on: October 26, 2011, 05:46:41 PM »
Hi everyone thought I would share with you my A500 on my first post. I have had the car now for 4 months and have done a few mods. Originally the car came with white mirror covers which were painted gloss black. I got the wheels refurbed in gloss black too. I sanded down the scorpion on the center caps and stuck on the red scorpion vinyl to make them stand out a bit more.

The engine has a few mods. Currently the induction kit, silicone induction hose and TMC tuning box.

The car is pretty standard although it did come with Sabelt seats (now sold) and also the Monza exhaust which sounds amazing.

The next mod I have planned is to add a slip diff to try and help with the traction. (can't see much point going for the larger turbo yet as the car really struggles to put the power on the road without spinning all over the place as it is)I also would like to do the brakes in a few montsh once teh current ones have come to the end of their life.

Welcome. Looks fantastic.
Slip diff eh? Be interested to hear if that improves the handling. Lagerlout on here is the only person I know who has one.

Yea have discussed it with a few different people and they reckon that will get the most out of the car. I have no proof to back that up lol but I am hoping the car will grip a little better out of corners and off the line. It is a lot cheaper then the turbo upgrade too  ;) Would be interesting to see what Lagerlout has to say about it

You should talk to Corsa too. He has one on his Caterham but was unsure about the merits of it being on the 500. He's an experienced trackie too.

That will be the Quaife QDH3K £585

Reds best colour - but then I would say that wouldnt I :thumb: :thumb: lol

Loving the Black Petals, they really work well. Im really unsure what to do about induction kits :( Im in two minds weather to change the standard airbox setup for the GTTuning induction kit. Does look good with the Abarth badge gota admit.

Car looks great mate, welcome onboard :thumb:

I was not sure about the black petals when I done them but I think they really go with the red now. I was going to buy a set of 1.2 Pro race alloys but I really like how the petals turned out now.

I do like the look of the induction kit as well which is why I chose that one and not the Forge one. Not sure how much difference between them is. It was really easy to fit though. Hoping to get a replacement heat shield in black at the end of the month and maybe the battery cover to fit the TMC box too.

I hear my name!
Sorry, been busy last few days - working like a mad man :P

As Hippo said, I am currently looking into that topic too.

On my Caterham it is an absolute must have!
Car is about 50% better with it.

On the 500 I am not a hundred percent sure on the topic.
Personally I am not really interested in improving the grip of the line.
Grip level once the car is rolling seems to be pretty good.

I agree that the grip level in slower corners could be better.
And a good LSD would certainly help there...

Personally I am trying to change my driving style a little and see if that helps ;D

Other option could also be to get a better suspension setup and some nice sticky tyres.
Obviously this is only an option if you do a low milage (would be suprised if I do more than 5k miles p.a. on my Abarth)...
