I'm definately going to visit Paintshield in Peterborough. How did it turn out? How much protection did you pay for and can you see it? Does it change the look of the paint much?
Hi Weyfox Very, very pleased with the way Paintshield went. Found it easily and after a brief run-through I was tossed the keys of a nice BM and off me and my son went to the cinema and for a pizza. was told about 3 and a half hours but it took nearer 5 and a half. I kept saying "DONT RUSH - I'm in no hurry". Very nice set up and good waiting area (PS3, XBOX360, TV, coffee etc). Was given free reign to stroll around looking at the pictures and watching them working on my car. I had the whole front (inc wing mirrors) and sills done. It is basically precision cut sheets of plastic film that are stuck down - that's over simplifying it a tad! You can see it if you look closely at panel edges, you can just see where the film ends. No, there is no change to the paint colour at all. I think that if you have Funk White and you can afford the extra, it is well worth having for the peace of mind. If it all falls off in the next week or 2 I'll let you know.

Mine's still firmly attached and it's been on since early March

Excellent - when you getting it? Probably the best choice with the kids in mind.

Then I will be down to Plymouth pretty damn sharpish. Hopefully i won't be waiting as long as you did, I have nowhere near enough patience for that!

Went out for a late evening spin tonight. As I approached a roundabout on the edge of town a Suzuki Swift Sport went from right to left with the driver staring at me (well, my car). I followed, as that was the way I was heading (off into the countryside). He slowed for me to catch up; and then let rip. Obviously I followed suit. The first time (350 miles in) that I've really pushed on with a challenge. I tell you what, it is a fabulous drive but something I am absolutely not used to is the extreme light weight. I'm so used to "speedy" cars with far more weight (Golf GTI, CLK, 550 Maranello, 911 etc) that it came as a bit of a shock. I kept right behind him without a problem but couldn't see if I was faster as there was nowhere to overtake. I then turned off as he was going somwhere I wasn't. Good laugh but early days. need to learn all the traits of the car a bit better and the car still needs to loosen up a bit.

I'm sure once you have got used to the car and the engine has loosened up a bit you will be leaving the Swift for dust I've been told that the demo I am buying feels a lot quicker now it is properly run-in compared with new. Are you thinking about going down the SS upgrade route at a later stage??

Raced a Fiesta ST the other day (amongst many others ) and turned it into a small white dot in my mirror, i was a little surprised considering the Fiesta is pretty light with a huge 2 litre engine! Astra 1.8 was the same, there's a Clio cup (200BHP) locally, I'm waiting for the opportunity, nervously may i add!

I think I'll probably go the G-tech (or similar) route and also upgrade the suspension. I might even wait til the manufacturer warranty runs out first.

Mmmmm, I'd perhaps just let him pass and give him a cheesy grin.

Agree with the more miles you've done, the faster the car feels too. 5500 miles so far, would be closer to 6500 or even 7000 if it wasn't in pieces at the garage for a month!
