Well, Milo is having a rest whilst I'm in Italy. Hired a car last night. Chap behind desk asked if I'd like to upgrade to a Fiat 500? He looked a bit crestfallen when I said 'no thanks'. So, I just had to show him a photo of Milo. He was most impressed with him and it left me feeling like a very proud owner. I do hope he's not missing me too much!

Yes thanks. Bergamo then the lakes. Just been to Brescia and Mille milia museum where there are many handsome cars, including Abarth Zagato. Will post pics when home.

OK - the Koni's have been fitted....

I have driven back from Manchester to Liverpool then home so, motorway; A roads; B roads; twisty roads; and bumpy roads full of pot holes over 50 miles.

Overall, I am pleased. However, they are a bit of a compromise in places (Sawbo - If you are reading this, Chris is right. For your requirements, you will be able to do better).

Motorway - Their effect is a bit strange here. Overall, the ride is more comfortable but they have the effect of being almost a bit too soft for me. I suspect if I ever were a passenger (unlikely and I am a very bad passenger in terms of feeling unwell) the sensation might make me feel a little bit sick. As a driver, it's fine. It certainly is not a negative thing.

A roads - much smoother and doubtless a bit more relaxing for longer journeys if that is your thing.

There ended my first part of the journey and, if I'm honest, I was beginning to wonder if I'd taken some of Milo's character away.

However:

B roads and twisty roads - There is just far more confidence in the car that it isn't going to bite you in the backside. It is a far smoother ride with a greater degree of control if the surface is uneven meaning you can carry more speed through the corners. ;D. It isn't just a comfort thing.

Potholes generally - well, we live up a farm track. Usually, I have a route to swerve along to avoid the holes (at some speed) to get back home. Now, the speed is the same but the route is straighter.

So, as I say, overall, a very happy bunny and a very happy Milo.

Before I leave this topic, there has been some dealer-bashing going on of late. I make no comment as to the justification. I, however, would just like to say thank you to Bauer Millett for fitting them; for the tea; and the idle gossip whilst I waited. However, I did mean it when I said I'm not going to be buying a yellow 695.  ;)

Good stuff, shame you didn't have them before the weekend  ;) I totally agree for track work you need something with a bit more oomph but for the everyday driver they answer most of the problems. I quite like the motorway feel but then we have had a ton of old Citroens so used to a 'floaty' ride. It's a great feeling not having the back end dancing and the front end not crashing isn't it?  :thumb:

We're disappointed SJH, why don't you want to join us?

Interestingly, our local Morgan agent who organised the purchase of our 695 has now sold three of them to Aero owners and has a fourth customer who bought one pre-owned for GBP45k. It seems there must be some affinity between the marques.

P.S. I love the understated look of your car  ;D

Thanks Aeroman (and Needsmust!).

The little yellow 695 is tempting but I'd have to sell one of my current stable which I am not going to be able to bring myself to do! After all, I need a daily car to put the miles on and that isn't a 695.....but it is an A500 so all is well with the world. ;D

Glad to hear there is a little clan of them forming. If I'm not mistaken, we still need more pictures from you.....

I understand, especailly with the upgrades and changes you've made. I must say we both find the Sabelts very comfortable, even though my wife is much more svelte than me.  ;) I've just looked and I see that you have an S2000 as well. I have one of its forefather's - a Honda S800 which was really a seminal sports car. The little engine is a jewel, as you'd expect from Honda.

Regarding photos, I did take some but left my camera in the UK - must be getting old.  :thumbd: I'm back on the 12th February so will hopefully post them on the site over that weekend.

Cheers

Interesting that you should say that as although I have enjoyed a few cars, I spent a lot of my 20's watching Morgans at club races (and occasionally cadging a drive). The annual event at Silverstone with both 3 and 4 wheelers taking on the MGs being a particular favourite, and a heavily modified plus eight taking on the Shelby Cobras.

Back then was the first time I saw Abarths in action and they left a lasting impression that made my current car obsession a no brainer.

Great pictures of the Aero a while back BTW.
