19/07/2009: Abarth 500 Selenia – European Trophy: Adam Jones makes it twice at Brands Hatch

Adam Jones made it twice at the English circuit of Brands Hatch. After his victory in race 1, the British driver kept the lead in race 2 from end to end, leaving his closest rivals behind. He then gradually increased his lead over Swede Freddy Nordstrom who finished second. In the agitated phases of the start, Brit Rupert Svendsen-Cook and Italian Emanuele Moncini went off the track, compromising their race.

Starting from the sixth spot on the grid, England's Jeff Smith took third ahead of Frenchman Benoît Perret. Further back down the field, an intense battle for fifth was shaping up between Italian youngster Simone Monforte, Portuguese Jorge Rodrigues and Brit Rob Gravett. After having overtaken Rodrigues in the fourth lap, Monforte was passed by the Portuguese in the seventh lap. Other protagonist in this battle, Gravett came in between them without succeeding in getting the better. Simone Monforte prevailed in the confrontation. Thanks to a bold manoeuvre the young driver moved his Abarth 500 Assetto Corse ahead of his opponents.

Italian Manuel Villa (who was absent at Brands Hatch) keeps leading the Abarth 500 Selenia-European Trophy standings but Frenchman Perret closes the gap to only seven points behind the leader. Portuguese Jorge Rodrigues retains third but he his closely followed by Simone Monforte and Emanuele Moncini.

The fight for final victory will resume at the next meeting of the Abarth 500 Selenia - European Trophy which is scheduled for September 5-6 on the German circuit of Oschersleben.

From what I saw on Sunday the race was his from the off, empty track all the way round 12 times, and no one in his mirrors for most of it. Fair play to him. Thumb Up

Pretty much a repeat of Saturday then, I think he must really know BH inside and out. I am wondering if he was the driver for the laps as I'm 90% certain he was a Brit would certainly make sense.

The guy was definitely a Brit, but would be good to know he was!

The "Brit" who won was touring car driver Adam Jones followed by 20 year old Freddy Nordstrom who flies the Swedish flag but is uk based, and a fine chap too.
Here are some pics:

Yes, just had it confirmed by Ivan, you boys were driven around the track by double-winner Adam Jones in his race winning car!

That's the last time I give up my place...  Roll Eyes Grin

And thanks to Michael for posting the photos. Thumb Up

Good to know, I think JK was the same as me, a bit to blown away by the ride to do much more than thank him profusely and pour myself out of the car. He was an awesome driver  Cool

Nice photos love the one of 49 with the back wheel just lifting and giving off a bit of tyre smoke Thumb Up
