09/10/2009: Abarth 500-Selenia Trophy: title to be decided at Vallelunga - Ex-Ferrari driver Ivan Capelli will also be at the start

Former Ferrari driver Ivan Capelli will enter the last round of the Abarth 500-Selenia Trophy, which will be held this weekend at the Vallelunga circuit. The event will be decisive for the awarding of the overall title, as well as that of the Under-23 category. Two drivers are still in contention for the overall classification: Sicily's Salvatore Tavano and Veneto's Nicola Baldan, who are separated by 32 points with 44 up for grabs. On the other hand, youngsters Tobias Tauber, Alex Campani and Simone Monforte will be all out for the win in the Under-23 category.

Tavano won seven of the 10 races so far, while Baldan won two.

In the Under-23 class, five victories went to Campani, two to Taubert, two to Fulgenzi and one to very young Monforte - who is just 17 - the winner of the last race at Mugello.

The 10 races featuring the Abarth 500 Assetto Corse have been spectacular and hard-fought thanks to the high-performance character of the 190 bhp turbocharged car.

The weekend's programme at Vallelunga features a free practice session tomorrow (Saturday 10 October) at 9:00am and qualifying at 2:15pm. On Sunday, the two races are scheduled at 10:30am and 3:00pm.

Abarth 500-Selenia Trophy standings:
1. Salvatore Tavano 202 points;
2 Nicola Baldan 170;
3. Francesco Iorio 86;
4. Andrea Rizzoli 80;
5. Manuel Villa 79.

Under-23 standings:
1. Tobias Tauber 172 points;
2. Alex Campani 151;
3. Simone Monforte 143;
4. Gabriele Larini 112;
5. Patrik Gobbo 100.
