The are pretty good, Mrs501 has a 56 plate that she has had from new and its fine.
There was  recall recently on the top steering column joint so it may be worth making sure that has been done.

Had one and LOVED it, good on fuel as well, not vastly quick but still sporty, the suspension is a bit iffy though. I lowered mine and it help a bit. You will double the 25mpg though if you drive it normally

http://www.fiatforum.com/grande-punto/89495-recalls-known-fault-issues.html

take a look at the link, goes over most the issues! Other things to look at is the turbo's condition and check the steering is fine. Quite a few people having steering coloums issues around that age!

As TMC many run chip/remaps around 180hp. Had mine RR at 144hp standard which suits me fine and gets over 50mpg Smiley and 0-62 timed at 8.6sec which ain't bad. I know your abarth are much faster though Smiley and I can't wait to get a A500 or APE

I had two 1.9 Sporting diesels and loved them both. Great cars. A remap on them makes them an animal. Would highly reccomend it!!!
