1st time at a car wash and never again
« on: January 28, 2012, 04:27:46 PM »
My dads vw polo was looking dirty and i wanted it to look clean for my Part 2 Examiner driving test soon.

I went to a local car wash and  saw that they was using  same towels and sponges on one car and then the next.

So off i went in a hunt for a car wash with just a jet wash spray i could use myself, rather than a family jumping on the car using towels and sponges from their bathroom.

I went for a reasonable 6 minute wash, id done half of it and then id ran out of time.So i looked like an idiot going back to the counter to pay for more tokens for extra time. The lady said "so u ran out of time then?" i replied with"yeah i normaly take 6 hours to clean my car haha".She gave me a funny look.So off i went again, the pressure of the jet wash almost blowing me away and it still didnt look clean.Infact it looked worse than it was the 1st place.

Drove home, got my kit out and tried to give the wheels a good scrub as they was caked in brake dust and my windows deffinetly needed re doing. I gave up in the end as it was getting cold lol. This was meant to be a quick and easy way of washing the car but im going to re do it tommorow.Wish i had done in the first place haha.

Rant over :)

Jet washes alone never will clean a car properly ;)

Once the dirt is caked on, you need all the gear to get it off again.

Oh, so your boyfriend takes it to the car wash  ;) ;D

Jet washes can be handy though, to clean the wheel arches etc

My boyfriend hand washes the cars.  Both of them.  You take yours to a car wash and find wires that scratch your roof in the brushes!

I use the jet wash every 3 days or so, and give it a good wax every couple of weeks, and a proper wash when i can be bothered, that sorta keeps it easy to clean with the jet wash, as the dirt falls off it

I must say, I do use a jetwash. It's just easier than getting all the equipment out at home when it's freezing cold. Costs £1 for 6 minutes. I usually spend £2.50. I don't use the brush, I take my own microfibre mit with me.
