Crashed whilst rallying in Italy.

Conflicting reports on how serious, hopefully not, looks like he'll be out for this coming season though  :(

Terrible news, other sites talk about a fractured arm and leg. As he already has some titanium in his arm from a road accident, I hope it is not more serious. Look forward to further news, which as Martin says we hope is positive.

Why not? I'd have thought it was a great thing to do in the closed season..... ;D

BTW no threat to life but serious hand injury. Amputation said to have been ruled our but lengthy surgery to try to restore function. So, good and bad I guess. Fingers crossed.

Good luck to Robert. It reports that it happened on the way to the first stage start gate and he crashed into a wall.
Conflicking reports on amputation it seems too early to assess yet.

Have just read the interview with him in the latest Autosport which is all about his enthusiasm for the coming F1 season. How different things are in an instant. The news seems a bit guarded at the moment but we are unlikely to see him before 2011 by all accounts.

Just crawled out my cave and heard about this for the first time sounds bad not heard of a one handed race driver so really hope the operations work.

Lastest is that he had a 7 hour op for a partially severed hand and is expected to be out for at least a year.   :(

:( its such a shame! They man is easily as good as the likes of hamleton and button, he just needs a good car under him. A future world champion in my eyes, such a shame!

Interesting article from David Coulthard on whether Kubica can make a comeback...

It's really in the lap of the gods, or the skill of the surgeons, Massa came back from a severe head injury, anything is possible.
