Fast lane...no thanks
« on: June 13, 2011, 09:50:53 PM »
After many years in London I decided it was time to change my life around so over a year ago I sold my share of business my flat and moved in a tiny village on the cotswold border,I really had a good career and got all my goals(i hate this word)sorted...I live a very normal life now I'm close to my daughter and I have a normal job with a normal wage while in London I lived on the fast lane for far too long yes it was fun but it was all a lot of bollox and fake...anyway yes I'm happy with my new life I don't drink I don't smoke i don't do d...s I still like women!!!but my life is a bit boring so a couple of weeks ago I decided I need some excitement in my life so I bought my gorgeous SS and found this site... I wake up in the morning and she's there waiting to roar it might be a car only but it has change my life I can't stop smiling while driving it and finally I'm off f.....g fb and I'm on here bothering you all with my blogs full of errors but at the end of the day I'm only a bloody italian!! you really seems a nice bunch of people and I really hope to meet you soon sometime...

My best friend lives in London (as a lawyer) and she tried for 2 years to convince me to move down there from Yorkshire do the same work for more money etc etc I resisted and she's now decided after 3 years of working every day not knowing when you or if she'll be getting home to give it up! She still lives in London (her partner works too) but she does consultancy now as and when she is needed and spends the rest of her time being a lady of leisure and rowing. I'm so glad I didn't uproot my life to chase the big bucks.

My husband took me to the cotswolds for my birthday this year and I loved it very beautiful area (Bourton on the Water etc) we also hired a classic Fiat 500 from cotswold 500 to pootle around in I can highly recommend.

We love Italy too though never been to Venice (or Sicily), been to Sienna/Chianti, Sorrento/Amalfi and Rome, and going to Lake Maggiore this year.

Glad you're enjoying the 'slower' life and your Abarth (I get mine on Thursday!)

Used to love London when I was younger, M25, summer of love all that stuff, but rarely ever go now as it is such a (word not for sensitive ears) these days. Still according the 2011 global wealth report it is still considered #2 in the worlds top 40 cities by UHNWI's and such people continue to buy into it pushing prices up and services down as mere mortals struggle to live there......

You sound like you have achieved a good balance and the esseesse feeds your soul.....

I hate cities and the people that come with them. We used to live in Leicester, my Dad was a top salesman, he made the local papers after selling £3,000,000 worth of business in just 3 months. But then we went to Wales and were blown away by the beautiful scenery and general laid back attitude of everyone and everything. Found a Victorian Mansion going cheap, renovated it slightly and have run it as a B&B since 1997.

Due to high running costs, the B&B pays for the upkeep of the house, so my Dad still has to go to Leicester every week, but i know even with the extra work and travelling he is happier here, we all are. Just 10 minutes away is the beautiful beach, and you can see the Dolphins jumping in the sea in the summer. In the 15 years we have lived here, i've been in 1 traffic jam which was 1 mile long. There are no motorways, roundabouts and very few speed cameras. You can find roads with no cars on at all and can drive as fast or as slow as you wish. It's our little patch of Paradise, and it's free!  ;D
