The requirement for identity is to do with AML and although someone at the dealership may have seen it 3 months ago requirements are very strict for what we term compliance purposes it does tthough varry slightly from bank to bank.

I have to agree with Bevan, that last update is shocking! I wouldn't be speaking to the sales guy mow but much further up the ladder.

I am stuck with this one now as I signed all the forms yesterday and expected to be driving it by the end of the day.  The payment misunderstanding was caused by two salesmen dealing with it.  I had not supplied proofs etc back in June and was just getting the quotes.  I assumed <hindsight> (foolishly) </hindsight> that once I had ordered the spec of my car I would be also signing the documents on the day of handover after proving who I was.

At the last point yesterday when I was told it wasn't going to happen, one of the bosses was stood next to the salesman and said nothing.  I raised my voice slightly and mentioned that I'd come and gone several times into the dealers for various bits and pieces to be processed, sat quietly and patiently while he did the other handovers, and that I was a bit miffed.  I got told that there was nothing he could do to speed things up, and it was implied that the whole mix up was my fault!

Well I hope it happens today.  My fingers are crossed

Sounds like the financial part got mixed up and that paperwork wasn't processed correctly.

Anyway good luck today and hope you get to enjoy your pocket rocket!  Grin

Hi,

Dealers are shocking and what they did was disgraceful. Check with your credit card co, section 75 does give you certain protection as long as you spend over 100 quid which you did, but as others advised deposits are difficult to get back. We did manage to get 1000quid deposit back from Audi whe they didn't deliver on numerous promises. Also worth speaking to another dealer see what they will do for you if they take your car from the dealer it's at!

Just fixed that for you  Grin I think on the whole Abarth have delivered on the promise that the dealer network would be small but good, the bad experiences are massively outweighed by the good looking at our feedback section.

More than can be said for a number of other marques out there

I feel for you.... I really do.

Its a pile of smelly stuff, and the dealer has let you down.

However, try to stay focused on what this is all about.... at the end of the rubbish you will get your car - and trust me (owner for all of 1 day) it **will** all be worth it when you get behind the wheel.

Chin up, and focus on the important bit - your car, and how much fun you will have with it

If the dealer has registered the vehicle it means that the vehicle is now in an interest bearing status in the dealer stocking plan so they are having to pay interest charges to FGA if it has not been has not been settled or if FGA have been settled then the dealer will be incuring interest charges from their bankers on their bank overdraft. Either way it is costing them money and should be making it even more of a prioity for them to get sorted in order to try and regain any degree of customer satisfaction.

Contact the Dealer Principal and the Managing Director and express your disatisfaction to them if you have not already done so.

Well I finally got it at about 5:30pm tonight.  No mats (yet), no full tank (as was promised) and three little marks on the body that need to be sorted out but have just got back in after putting a few miles on the clock and I still have a beaming smile on my face.

Was going to get some piccies but just couldn't stop to take any, only stopped quick enough to put more fuel in, and off again.  Fantastic car.  Well worth the wait, dealer pains, and money.

I cannot wait for the drive to work tomorrow.  Albeit 5 miles!

One finally happy customer.  Thumb Up

Thanks for all the advice / comments etc in this thread.  Really useful.  I just hope no one else has to go through what I did, but all's well in the end.  You know who you are  Wave
