If there is one thing in the UK I truly hate it's the M25. When I lived in London, it was always congested by idiots. Now live near Reading and I only have to do a bit of M25 to get to the Channel Tunnel and back, and it's still full of idiots. Scenario today: jams and constant braking on the two right lanes. On the very left a Grande Punto Abarth, namely mine, undertook everyone of those idiots at just 70 mph on a perfectly free lane. There was sun, a bit of rain and the satisfaction of outsmarting all the brakers on lane 4. What is wrong with these people?

What is wrong is,they passed a test but never learnt how to drive... don't start me on this one

Scenario - you're in the middle lane doing 70 overtaking when due to traffic flow dynamics the outside two lanes slow down so you're going slower. You decide to pull over into the inside lane when some twazzock steams up the inside lane straight through your blind spot. Accident only averted because you do an over the shoulder rear obs. Personally I'd have the death penalty for undertaking.

Sometimes in life you just have to wait. Turn the stereo on, listen to some tunes, relax. You'd be surprised how little time driving at 10 mph slower adds to the journey.

Believe me the M25 is a million times better than it was in the 1980s with no effective speed limit and cars with drum brakes. Sure "Super" cars could steam up the outside at 100, but only for as far as it took to hit the next accident.

how could that happen, they would hit the person you were overtaking first, unless there was no one to overtake in which case you should have been in lane 1.

It's flow dynamics in heavy traffic. The middle lane was going faster than the inside lane when you pulled out but something happens up ahead and the middle lane of traffic slows so that you are now going slower than the inside lane. Or alternatively the inside lane has speeded up, which usually happens when slow moving traffic ahead pulls off at a junction.

hilarious, wonder if anyone read it,

i,m talking about the real life situation of lane 1 being empty whilst lanes 2 and 3 are full of cars travelling at the same speed, happens all the time and its because some drivers can,t be bothered to go back to the left incase they have to think when they eventually catch someone up

Lane 1 is always empty, except for a few trucks which can be overtaken quite easily. And death penalty for undertaking, Paula? That's a little harsh, no, with me it's the opposite, I'd have cameras and huge fines for lane hogging, but that's just because I am a foreigner with some driving discipline. If somebody is too lazy to indicate and change lanes, how did they get their license. And waiting is quite ok, but only up to a max of 10 miles at which point my patience is totally exhausted.

I think we should be sent to germany to learn how they use motorways. THey are excellent at it. Helped by the lack of traffic though.

Not m25 related but, I would ban lorry's from overtaking on two lane carriagways, the M18 for instance, lloyd will be familiar with this, M18 road joins the M1 to the M62 , this is a two lane carriageway apart from just before it joins its respective motorways at either end. It
is absolutely infuriating when a lorry pulls out to pass another lorry and can take 2 miles or more to pass causing a massive tailback
really is insane, and they do it when they know its an uphill stretch

. I would include the A1, 2 lane bits in this aswell, traffic would
flow much better especially at peak times. I have had quite a few gesticulating

moments with lorry drivers over this, including one that tried to run me off the road, he didnt do it again as it was caught on camera and was done for dangerous driving and lost his job.

last week on the way back from gaydon there was a stretch of dual carriageway with signs banning HGVs from lane 2 between certain times, this is an excellent idea, hope it spreads

and today, on the m25, lane 1 was empty, idiots in lane 2 doing 60

Yes it doesnt have to be an all day ban, just busy periods morning and evening rush hour say.
