Night mode
« on: January 21, 2012, 03:02:10 AM »
Who works nights?

I like to get home and have a cheeky beer/ wine/ whisky in the morning - it feels a bit naughty and I always think I've earned it.  Shame you can't get a decent bag of chips in the morning.

Sadly, I'm not organised enough to get my body clock sorted.  This is what annoys me most about them - get into night mode, then working days again.  Really not good for the drive home.

There's less traffic, it's easy to park, and I have seen a few beautiful dawns that I'd otherwise have missed, but can't summon many other compensations to mind.

Food and alcohol definitely taste better when its considered inappropriate or illegal. That's why I like taking a long lunch when everyone else is working or having a bit of afters. Since the introduction of more liberal licensing laws, opportunities are few and far between. Count yourself fortunate and keep up the good work fella :thumb:

I have just started a new job (my dream job so I am a very lucky girl  :D) and will be going on rota from 20th Feb which involves early, lates and nights. I have never worked nights and I am actually looking forward to it. I can't see anything wrong with a cheeky beverage in the morning - it is after all the 'evening' after work just the other way around. That is how I will be justifying it anyway  ;D

I used to love my night shifts. I'd start at 8pm and finish at 8am.

Providing the traffic and weather was ok Id get home around 9am, have something to eat and drink before heading off to bed at around 11am. Back up again at 6pm to have breakfast and do the whole lot again.

At the end of my nights Id stay awake all day and go to bed at a normal time, total time awake 29+ hours.

Id quite often go food shopping on the way home; Tesco at 10:30 on a Tuesday morning is lovely!

I miss my nights :(

I have only done occasional nights.
I did aweek in a  factory and washed my car at 2am every night.
A few years ago at royal mail I used to go to sleep in my motor home in car park at dinner time 1am
The ocasional triple shift was a killer
Start at 8pm and finish at 6pm

These 12 hour days are a doddle now
