Have to say i love Renault Sport, but if you're going to do it, do ALL of it!!
Sorry they're smallish pics, but you get the idea. And yes it was SVA'd, taxed and fully road legal!!!

As Keith Richards tells it, Jones came up with the name "The Rollin' Stones" (later with the 'g') while on the phone with a venue owner. "The voice on the other end of the line obviously said, 'What are you called?' Panic. The Best of Muddy Waters album was lying on the floor—and track one was 'Rollin' Stone Blues'".

Rich 500 is spot on and the Renault Spider was/is a fantastic bit of kit. Very intersting all this talk about Renault Sport but a far greater name has returned for the
Renualt Group and that is Gordini.

Like Abarth was/is for Fiat Gordini was for Renault in rallying in particular such greats as the Dauphine and R8 and like the original 500 rear engines and big fat Webers (they are the greatest carburettors known to man & woman. If you like the sound of the A500 exhaust which is divine then stick you head in an engine bay when 45DCOE's are sucking the atmoshphere in!!! ). There is currently a R8 Gordini for sale at £30k so very highly sought after.
I just dont think that Renault have gone quite far enough with the Gordini relaunch specs it appears show and no go compared to the standard Renault Sport models its more about the colour of the leather and such things rather than enhancing chassis even further. A trick appears to have been missed here by Renault. At least Renault keep the rear engine theme going.

Renaultsports are awesome cars, but having owned a Clio 172 AND 197 i can honestly say i will not buy another!!

Had nothing but problems with my 197 Shocked  Was 2 years old when i got it with only 6k on the clock so was practically new, in the 8 months and 12,000miles in which owned ithe list of warranty work reads -
New Manifold & Pre cat £1250 inc labour (Pre cat split from manifold so had to replace the lot)
2 New steering columns!! - Apparently a common fault with them Shocked
Track rod ends (or something like that lol) these were in need of replacing when i sold it.

And 1 of my mates owns a Renaultsport Megane and the turbo has given up the ghost (Although he does drive like a d!ck).

Well we were a bit sneaky with our Spider.
It was an ex Renault Spider Cup Race car. So it had all the trick bits. Remote reservoir dampers, proper sequential gearbox, so pull back to change up, push forward to change down, and full throttle, no lift gearchanges! It had no doors, so you had to climb over to get in, which was ok because it had no roof either. Unlike every UK supplied road Spider it had the oh so cool no windscreen, air deflector arrangement, definitely warranted shades but a crash helmet was better.
It was lighter than the road car, more powerful than the road car.
It was brilliant!
And at the time we did it, it was the only road registered, race, Renault Sport Spider in the UK.
Why did we do it? Because we wanted something a "little" different, and everyone we mentioned it to said it couldn't really be done to work! And if we did do it we would "have" to convert it to a road spec H pattern gearbox!
That was all the encouragement we needed!!!  Thumb Up Thumb Up Thumb Up Thumb Up Thumb Up Thumb Up
