Spelling, Grammar and text language
« on: February 01, 2011, 11:40:29 AM »
Do you also wince at incorrect spelling, grammar and the use of text language on this forum?
 :bat:
In my view this points at laziness and a lack of education and intelligence.

Cue the tirade of replies using said language......

I wince.

This was my first forum and I admit to being struck by the amount of wincing required.

Seldom is the meaning of a post obscured by poor spelling/grammar/txt, but for us poor sensitive souls the temptation to correct (rather than criticise) is a constant burden.

Perhaps this thread could act as a cathartic "sin-bin" where we wincers could post particularly choice gaffes to sneer over...

sometimes abbr. or quick typing does bring errors, also some phones are impossible to type on ( iphones ) and bring errors in themselves, but I think there are some things that are ok m8 lol  :thumb:

My pet hate is when I see 'brought' used...  as in:-
"I brought an ice-cream from that van over there, but now it's melted"

I see it used on a lot of forums.  It's not laziness, because it's got an extra letter... so I just don't get it.

I must admit to getting apostrophe wrong myself quite often.  Plural, belonging to...  leave it in, put it at the end.. arrggh.
