Ha ha very funny  ;D

I'm just not suited to car dealers. I know they are just establishing rarity and eliciting change talk the way they are taught in their NLP and Motivational Interviewing courses. But when someone tells me something will be difficult to get I just don't think 'wow I'd better buy one quickly', I think 'ah too much trouble then'.

Now sitting in a coffee shop drinking a nice cup if tea with a chocolate chip shortbread. Not a good as Trooper's cup cakes but best part of the day.

To be honest, I either want a car or I don't. I don't really give a toss what the sales guy says about it other than in terms of what it does. Either the price is the one in my own mind I'm willing to pay or it isn't. If it isn't - I'll leave. I don't do horse trading or the stuff that the horse leaves behind.

Simplifies things somewhat.   ;D :thumb:

Well done for getting in a yeti. They are supposed to be awesome. I walked out after getting within two feet of it. shockingly poor quality for a fairly high price tag.  :thumbd:

Yes I was a bit shocked. Great reviews but compare the quality with something like the Rav 4 and it's pants.

The problem is you can't get away from the sales guys. Luckily the skoda guy was talking to someone so we just gave him the keys and said 'not really for us'.

I had a disagreement with my brother in law at Christmas about the fact that I hate haggling. The prices are all in glasses - I'll pay the dealers price and expect the part ex price for any part ex.

We'll probably get an ex lease 3 year old Mazda 6 from Tesco cars later in the year. Cracking car and I trust the servicing at that dealers after 13 years using them. Let someone else take the 50% depreciation and spend it on beer and hookers

I can't stand wasting time arriving at the same conclusion as the bloke who does haggle. Straight to the point and be done with it.  :)

Helped a friend with a 'boring' new car purchase on Saturday. A Honda Civic 2.2 diesel Type S/Si. Quality is good, depreciation is glacial and as there is a new model coming out, discounts are massive (appeared restricted to petrol models?).
They also had a used 60 plate with 15,000 miles for £11,990.

I'd never have considered such a car but having experienced one and seen the numbers, it actually made sense :thumb:

I had to look up the Hyundai - looks competent, little slow and thirsty. I agree the Civic is a good deal - Chris want's something a little larger though.

We really liked the Mazda 6, so we'll probably get a 3 year old one of them when the right one comes up.

I've been rattling around in a crappy litte Chevy Atos the last couple of weeks. It is the world's crappiest car, slow as a slug and not even plastic hub caps. But you know it's been great. I don't care where I leave it, it doesn't matter if I catch the kerb, or put sacks of grit in the boot. No one tries to race me and if it snows i wouldnt care less, just practice my skid pan skills. I love my Abarth and do want it back, but sometimes I winder if I shouldn't part ex it for something flashy for Chris and get myself an old panda 4x4 - preferably pre dented . . .

If it makes you feel better I could get me a Ducati Monster as well - not been on a bike for 17 years - what could possibly go wrong?
