Unlucky and lucky in the same night!
« on: February 03, 2011, 09:19:07 PM »
My sister is up from London visiting for a few days so I collected her from Edinburgh Airport around 8pm tonight.

On the M9 back to Falkirk I noticed a couple of cars on the hard shoulder with their hazards on but thought nothing of it.

Then BANG I hit a whopping pothole at around 65mph and the whole car shook.

I then noticed that the 'couple of cars' on the hard shoulder were actually around half a dozen, who had obviously hit the same pothole!

The car felt ok for the next wee while but eventually I could feel that the tyre was starting to deflate and luckily I managed to make it home before it was completely flat.

The weather is wild here just now with high winds and rain and when I parked in my driveway I noticed that where I usually park my car a roof tile had come off my roof and smashed to pieces.

I dread to think what damage would have been caused to the car if I hadn't gone to the airport!

Scotland's like that.  I once pitched a tent in the car headlights only to discover a fallen tree between the tent and car next morning.

I hate potholes!

we had high winds last night, since I was home early I hadn't put Rory in the Garage, it was only when we heard the massive gusts late last night, I quickly went and put him in the garage, the wife just looked at me like I was mad, I mean who has heard of tucking your car innto bed before?

My bosses roof decided to fall off one night and landed on his wife's car. It was wrecked, but insurance fixed it. Just after getting it back a week later, she then took a bend too fast, lost control and somehow cleared an 8ft hedge without touching it, barrel rolling the car a few times. Car was destroyed, but she was OK.

Talking of weird things (though not life threatening):
My mum bought some books for my stepdad just before xmas, from a second handbook shop.
He picked one up to look at the the other day and a wage packet fell out.
The wage packet belonged to one of my mums' brothers !!!!! (it was empty of course!)
note to self.... do not attempt to contribute to any discussion on engine modification and tuning stuff, remember you know nothing about them.

8ft hedge  :o that car was DOOMED hahaaa!

Insurance asks where your car is parked at night when quoting so i guess if you car was not in the garage theyd try and wriggle out of it, best to just say youd just backed it out to go the 24hr shops at 3am for some milk  when all of a sudden it got squashed ..how lucky i wasnt hurt, now pay out please!  ;D

I think insurance companies apply more common sense than you think. For example, my mate wrote his car off a year ago.

1. It was an import, insurance thought it was a UK car
2. It was registered as a 105 BHP when in fact it was a 135 BHP
3. It had no MOT
4. My mate had 9 points for speeding/drink driving and several crashes on record already.
5. There was something else.....i forgot

Anyway they paid out in full. Now he has a new car, he's put bigger wheels on it, had it remapped to 200+ HP and is fitting Bilsteins soon too, the insurance company think it's standard...
