I'm feeling a bit out of it here. I've never heard of half of this stuff !!! I need educating in modern sounds. In the olden days we used to hear all new stuff on Top of the Pops or Radio 1, but nowadays, how do you decide what to listen to? I spend all of my time listening to my own stuff in the car, so I don't listen to the radio very much. Should I be listening to the radio more? Bombay Bicycle Club sounds like my type of thing

Dave, that's half the reason i don't don't bother with music, there's so much to chose from, new bands popping up every day, and I'm so indecisive at the best of times! I'm not a big fan of loud noise either. Do i sound like and old man?

No, you just sound like someone who is living in a modern era where it's harder to appreciate music than it used to be.

Still loving Marina & The Diamonds and Ellie Goulding.

I have a lot of music.
DF, you're missing out. You need someone to sit you down with a good stereo in a dark room and play you a few (and only a few) decent tunes. Music should be listened to. On in the background is fine, but won't convert you.
Thanks to Trigzz for the DSI link. I haven't been out for a while and FC's Trance Nation 2001 was always a fave rave. Until about 1990 I was strictly guitar, by 1995 I was clubbing. I now like more stuff than ever but often find radio4 on in the car.
I tend to find myself buying older rock stuff now and not listening to it as much as I think I will. DF - you'll never have as much free time to listen to music again in your life. Don't miss out. Find someone with a great hi-fi - they'll probably have a range of well produced music that will move you, rather than try to convert you to a particular genre. Loud is good, but far too often is ruined by crap stereos.

With me, my mood dictates what music i listen to, if im feeling civilised then its Yoav's-Charmed & Strange album, otherwise anything goes, dance, rock, pop, i used to install and repair jukeboxes in pubs, that helped me broaden my musical horizons no end. Free credits and in charge of the volume control..for test purposes of course!
