My cat hugo was put to sleep today, aged 15, kidney tumor was found by the vet back in october and we were told there was nothing that could be done, but that he wasn't suffering, we were told some things to keep an eye out for, and told that when he got worse it would be better to have him put down, up until a couple days ago he was perfectly happy and fine in himself, he lost a lot of weight but he never seemed in pain, then on saturday we noticed he couldnt settle easily, and his breathing was laboured, and yesterday he got worse and we discovered blood in his urine, he still seemed happy for the most part, but we decided it would be best to have him go before he started suffering, or had a heart or organ failure and go painfully, went into the vets this morning with my dad, and he was put to sleep purring and getting hugged by us both, so he went happily.
He's been a huge part of my life, got him (and his brother Gucci who we still have) when I was 5, I'm now 20, so he's been through everything with me. He wasn't just a pet, he was a huge part of our family, and he brought us many years of happiness and spoiled us rotten. Truely a great cat, so kind and loving, always showing affection and forcing his love on us. I miss him dearly already, and would trade so much to have him back with me, but everything has its time.
So heres to my amazing wee man, Hugo
