0-60
« on: August 11, 2013, 07:40:24 pm »
Just done three 0-60 runs and after exhaust, bmc, blow off and TMC, I am getting consistent 6.2 times. In 2009 they were saying 7.7 and a new 2012 is 6.7, so just shows for not much money you can get to a point of a quick car without spending loads. I ride a Kawasaki ZX10 and bike power is so different, but was very impressed with my Abarth. My Cooper Works R56 was doing 6 secs but for a hell of a lot more money. There's another reason why I love my Abarth.

Just wondered if anyone else is as sad as me and done any 0-60 times and before I get mine on the dyno wondered what people were getting with the same equipment on? Only going to the dyno just so I know, but thinking now of turning to handling instead of power as it seems great then track day time!

Which A500 variant and exhaust do you have? How are you measuring 0-60? Just curious, mine gets a new exhaust next fri and tmc is on its way to me.

Thought you said it was fast enough as standard?

One thing to note was because of the MTA gearbox snatching on take off, we started from a rolling start in first gear at 1300rpm and about 5 km/hr.

So not a true 0-60miles per hour, but dam close for now.

Once we have worked on some launch control software for the Alfa Selispeed gearboxes, we will try true standing starts.

    Cheers

That 5km/h doesn't sound like much but I'll bet it makes a fair difference.
You'd be lucky to get it under 5.8 seconds 0-100 from a standing start. I just don't think you could bend the laws of physics, time and space to go much faster without shifting the cars weight forward and running super sticky slick tyres.

Lol, yes I know the first 10km/hr is worth half a second at least lol.
But at least I'm honest about how we did it :-)

I would be very happy with low 5 second times and a quarter mile time in the 12 seconds too  :banghead:

On a dyno day 2-3yrs ago we saw cars making these kind of figures:

    A500c Standard 135bhp Auto - 150bhp
    A500 BMC panel filter, G-Tech back box - 151bhp
    A500 esseesse with Monza exhaust - 160bhp
A500 GTTuning induction kit, Group N back box, TMC - 167bhp (tester commented something was hold back more power, we believe now to be factory actuator)
A500 Forge induction, Milltek turbo back exhaust twin box system and 200cell sport cat - 172bhp
A500 Forge induction, Milltek turbo back exhaust modified single box system and 200cell sport cat - 171bhp
A500c GTTuning 190bhp kit - GTTuning induction, GTTuning actuator, hard wired modified TMC box and cat back exhaust - 180bhp

We found that all the figures to be pretty fair when you consider that Abarth list the NP at 135bhp and the esseesse at 160bhp
If you take into account that sometime Abarth list the NP at 140bhp and that we had a esseesse make 160bhp on the dot we think the figures where about right. As you can see with an induction kit and sport cat you should be floating around the 170bhp which is pretty impressive considering the 2.0 Focus ST170 only made that!

Changing the actuator to a uprated one clearly opens up the turbo and can allow for a marked improvement. Some time ago I saw a feature in a magazine on Forges test Abarth and on the factory exhaust (including cat) they reckoned their car with their own induction kit, BOV, actuator, single front mounted intercooler and a remap made 190bhp, personally Id say closer to 180bhp on the standard cat but still with a 200cell cat on and any aftermarket cat back exhaust you can easily see how the 1.4 T-Jet can reach the 200bhp ceiling of the factory turbo.
