Anybody know much about this double din head unit?
« on: January 11, 2015, 01:13:47 pm »
Has anybody got this headunit?

I got a few questions.

Whats it called?(is it nav plus?)

Is there any uk websites that sell it?

Price?

Is it a cheap and nasty brand?

Is the air from the air vents restricted?

Quality? Is sound quality any good or poor? Im impressed with the standard head unit, but im aware a different head unit can make a slight difference in sound quality.

Any info on how to get it to be a sat nav and tv?

Is there any others out there that leaves standard looking air vents?

Im aware theres other better brands (pioneer etc)out there but im not a fan of the non oem look.

I love the fact that this has air vents, buttons that look standard to the car.

Thanks :)

Now with added monza fun :P

I had a similar 'Chinese' unit in a golf a few years back. Looked great, like it came from the factory, but the fact is it really wasn't. Poor graphics and screen quality, poor radio reception, poor sound quality, poor bluetooth, and just generally poor :thumbd:  I lived with it for a couple of months then spent twice as much on a factory Sat nav head unit. I'm sure the quality will have improved a bit since then, but I personally wouldn't be prepared to take the risk without actually having a play with one first.

Oh, had to butcher some of the wiring to make it work too, despite it supposedly being plug and play :-\

Hmmm thats a shame if this one is a chinese one. The price on an italian website is around 400-500  mark so not particullary cheap either.

Does anybody else have this? It would be nice to see and play with it.

And what do you mean buy the kit? It would be nice to buy those airvents and buttons and fit a better quality unit inside.

There a video here if anybody's interested. It's in Italian but i can translate :P , basically it says blue and me works with it.
The screen looks sharp too.Lovely design with the "500" part on it.I'm doing some research but not getting far.

I wouldn't want to buy it from china incase i have any problems.

I have found an old post from somebody on here called honda that had one and he mentioned he bought it from a supplier in liverpool and he seemed impressed with it but had some issues fitting it being a very tight fit .He then seemed to have sold the car. I've pm'd him but not sure if hes still active.

I would like to see this and buy it off somebody in the uk.

And heres another link showing it working.

If you Google translate the german Abarth forum. www.abarth-forum.de there are a few threads on the unit. They had a group buy on there. Almost got one but it didn't have DAB so that put me off it.

Heres a link for the groupbuy thread

    Don't go near it!!!

It is hopeless to the power of infinity.

I bought one as a test when I first bought my Abarth last year.

I instantly had it removed and refunded. Total sh#t !!!

As noted above,  buy a double din facia and install any thousands of high quality brand units.

I ended up with a Kenwood dnn9350 BT and couldn't be happier.

Build quality, touch screen sensitivity, poor screen resolution, limited functionality, limited rear panel cabling (can't be booked up to a power amp), constant hiss even when not playing music, hopeless sound.... etc..... etc.....

    Simply put... an inferior product!

Please please please don't waste your money.  Save a little more, be patient and buy a new item from a major brand.

An Abarth deserves only the best.  This is not a $1000 dinged up 1980's Honda Civic.

Justin thats great thanks. Like i sad the thing that appealed to me about it was the very oem look .I wont bother if its that bad lol.its not exactly cheap either its about £450 lol.

Ive seen some cracking screens from panasonics but the surroundings aint been to my taste .The one you sent me doesnt look too bad actually:)

Where can i find that surround?

So any headunit can fit in these?

Yes... any 2 din head unit can fit this facia and the one previously noted.

I can't remember the actual sites I found this on.  Perhaps search fiat 500 facia japan and take note of the .jp in the web addresses as you search goggle  :thumb:
