i dont see how turbos can be rated for hp  as you can  make

its boost pressure that my turbo is rated for   my turbo is rated at 1.8 bar i am only running it at 1.5

so i am not running close to what the turbo can do

i am only doing  the rods pistons and cams  and some port work to the head witch should give me around 300hp

how are you going to get more fuel in as the standard ones just cant supply the fuel needed to keep the engine from turning in to a lot of small bits in the sump

too be honest i just told the garage what i want from my car ie how much power and they sorted it all do is just pay the blll ;) but i know that the turbo boost was running at 2 bar and could go more hence they changing the gauge inside that bit confused me but i will check the correct figures on tuesday when hopefully its ready as for the fuel bit im just going by what the garage told me so will know then if i have to uprate the injectors its no biggie :)

2 bar  :o 8)  that should give you more than 300hp  :thumb:

but the standard internals will go bang at 1.6 bar

Standard internal will go bang at 1.6bar, that is true. I have proven that already, Running 2bar with the stock 1.4 with turbo that size. If it really going to happen, you probably get full boost at 5500rpm and redline at 6000rpm  :thumb:

Im still confused on all this boost stuff, but my car was running almost 1.2/3 boost on the gauge before i had any mods due to angel remap wont it still be running the same with this new turbo before it goes to AMD??

a quick word of warning dan - upping the boost dosent necessarily give you a proportionate increase in power - the point of turbos is to increase the amount of air that is rammed into the engine - when you start getting near the maximum for the turbo the compressor looses its efficiency and drastically increases charge air temps thus reducing the amount of air rammed into the engine which has a negative increase in power - so while going from 1.5 bar to 1.8 bar is a 20% hike in pressure you may only be getting a 5% increase in air into the cylinders as a result of the charge air being excessively  heated by the compressor starting to operate outside of its efficiency

yes but the turbo is ment to be run at 1.8 bar i just dont have the pistons and rods yet to run it that high

so the turbo is ment to be efficient at 1.8 bar  :thumb:

Im still confused on all this boost stuff, but my car was running almost 1.2/3 boost on the gauge before i had any mods due to angel remap wont it still be running the same with this new turbo before it goes to AMD??

the standard boost gage can not be trusted for tuning  but it might run the standard map but i dont know how well it will run like that and i would not want to drive it like that for long just in case

sorry if it sounds harsh  but from what i can see

you will have a engine that  is not going to get enough fuel and is going to be running 0.4 bar of boost more than the pistons can stand before melting  :'(

but i hope you prove me wrong  ;D as i have been so many times before

mine took 3 days from dropping the car of to picking it up  :thumb:  dropped it off on a Wednesday and picked it up on sat

im not meaning to sound like im picking on you but just because a turbo is specified to run at 1.8bar dosent mean its efficient at doing it - look at a compressor map and you'll have islands with %'s next to them- thats how well the compressor works at any given boost pressure - any turbo nearing its max will see a drop in efficiency - meaning an increase in boost pressure will see a less than proportionate increase in air supplied to the cylinders - but anyway i wish you well with the rest of the build - why are you building the engine as opposed to running a methanol kit? have you got any dyno graphs showing where you are at the moment - i know you've said in car footage is problematic to get but i dont think i would be the only one interested to see some

the reason i want a built engine instead of meth is safty   if the meth fails engine could go bang and built engine i wont need to fill a second tank  as i use my car every day i want to keep it user friendly

and i just with the car came like this from abarth

i have got some dyno graphs of my car car

    before and after

i have lost power but i have lost it where the car does not need it and is never used in

appreciate the pics Dan - i think you'll find any reputable methanol kit has a fail safe that if anything were to fail the car would drop out of boost - thats a lovely looking curve with the big turbo, once the turbo is spooled holds a lovely flat torque curve and must slam into the red line - if you're gonna build the motor do what lagerlout did and bore it from 1368cc to 1.5 l - will help with off boost torque (if you ever use that) and will bring the turbo in sooner aswell as having lower cylinder pressures aiding reliability - is that the garrett that GTT originally put together

no its a custom one on tmc web site  ment to get 230 to 240 hp

i am thinking of the big bore but

    pistons and rods

fast road cams to  help spool the turbo faster and hold more power at the red line

and a big bore kit to spool turbo faster

and a little bit of port work  just to help all over

the only thing i dont know is with the big bore  it will make the cylinder walls thiner and less strong so i am not completely sold on the big bore
