Sorry SJH can't quite tell which you are saying yes too, they are not currently in the SS kit for the hard top, they have only confirmed for the SS kit on the 500c and APE but there is every likely hood they will eventually make it to the hard top. Remember the final pricing etc still hasn't been released for the A500c & APE SS kits (or at least not to my knowledge at the second in time)

Although the A500A is becoming a reality

Sorry, it's late and I misread this as A500c. You are quite right. I'll go to bed !

    What's the verdict?...

Ok..... What I know about suspension could fit on a postage stamp,,, but from what I have gathered -

On each wheel is a shock absorber, and a damper / spring set up.

The Gaz / Pulse kits change the shocks

The Koni kit on sale here is a new set of dampers

Is it as simple as either changing one or the other (damper / shock) or do you need to do both?

Hi...a damper and a shock absorber are the same thing....I think 'damper' is probably a bit of an old fashioned term...many people just refer to 'shocks' which is an americanism.
The GAZ and some other kits change the shock absorber and the spring in each corner. Further, the GAZ shock absorbers have a knob on the side which adjusts the stiffness of the bump and rebound and on the front there is a facility to adjust the ride height. Not all shock absorbers have these facilities.

The Koni kit doesnt include springs (so the ride height remains the same)and the adjustment is automatic...see the spec it explains how this works. Assuming it does, it will be like magic to have a shock with a soft response on the road and a firm response on the track....brilliant engineering....I look forward to hearing about it.

FSD shocks collected today and being fitted tomorrow.....

Background info from Koni's uk agents is that they will suit either red (ss) or black springs (standard) but were calibrated primarily for the red ones. Same dampers as being factory fitted to 695.

Ok, looking under the back of my car... I have something sitting under a wishbone type strutt running upwards at 90 degs with the red spring round it. I take this to be the damper.

I then have a black piston looking thing running up at about 45 degs... What's that then??

You dont have a wishbone on the rear its a torsion bar, the red spring is just that with a bump stop the black piston is your shock / damper.

    Goldie,
you will probably see that the gap at the top of the bump stop (which sits inside the spring  and is fixed through the torsion bar at the bottom) is very small. This is because it was designed for the standard springs and not the shortened esseesse springs. The result is that the car bottoms out on quite small undulations in the road and this upsets the handling. Those esseesse owners in the know remove the bump stops entirely.
I guess that the Koni kit  has been developed with the bump stop in place..will be interesting to see how they deal with the bump stop problem.

For those following this thread, BH has posted a few initial thoughts now he's had his Konis fitted: Abarth 500 Esseesse fitted with Koni FSD Kit.

Hi everyone, I have left my details in the abarthisti shop yesterday as I would like to buy a set of these dampers, how long does it take to be contacted?
