Mak XLRs - anyone used them?
« on: November 09, 2021, 01:30:26 am »
Might as well start a new topic with a slightly more sensible name than something about Rambo :D

I was looking for some new wheels which fit over the Brembos without having to spend a fortune on a new set of Ozs, Comp wheels or Ferrari Tributo alloys, and came across the Mak XLR in 7Jx17 size, Fiat 500 fitting:

They weigh in at 7.9kg including centre cap, which I think is about 2.1kg less than the standard Turismo 17 inchers, and unlike the Turismo fit over Brembos without needing spacers:

Anyone had any experience with Mak XLRs before? Aside from looking rather blingy in gold (though this suits a black Abarth quite nicely, reminiscent of the JPS Lotus in the 70s) they seem like a good, lightweight, cost-effective solution to using Brembos without breaking the bank.

They look nice on the car too, with replacement gold stripes:

    Very tempting actually :)

But dangerous too, that'd be a slippery slope because then I'd need black door handles too, then dechrome the boot handle, etc. And then I'd have to start on the interior - black Sabelts (actually slightly tempted by that idea), then I'd have to look at a black dash, and finish off with black switches which light up a little black light on a black background, in black :D

My boothandle is wrapped in carbonfibre(look). Wondering wether I'll try the doorhandles myself.
    There's always black plastidip.
But I found the white siderepeaters on my black 100HP horrible, so changed them to black ones with chrome YW5W bulbs.
On the Campovolo grey I just changed the bulbs to chrome because I hate the orange blob in the middle of the white lenses.
