poor radio signal aerial base replacement

Hi all,
My Abarth 2012 new aerial shape has poor radio signal. I've changed the aerial and is slightly better. I noticed on the old one a lot of white residue on the old aerial and the base. I'm thinking of changing the base and see if that is better. anyone else changed the base before and anyone else had the same problem?

    Poor radio reception seems to be a 500 "thing". Even new ones suffer from it.
