Remap and exhaust advice please
« on: July 30, 2020, 07:33:42 pm »
I have just purchased a 2020 Abarth 595 70th anniversary  , 145 bhp and would like to get it remapped I wish to put on a bombardon exhaust before the remap, in your opinion can you tell me if the Bombadon is the loudest as I want a remap to included pops and bangs , as I live in Hampshire .which is the best place to go for this , without to much travel please thanks

Hi there, congrats on your new purchase.
I’ll chuck in my 2p worth. If only changing the back box is what you are looking at, don’t focus on LOUDEST, but nicest sounding instead. I have a feeling that the Monza is the loudest, but I wouldn’t get a valved exhaust as they are prone to sticking and thus failing. Also, in my opinion, a rear diffuser cut for two big pipes is meant for two big pipes, not two double pea shooters.
So, again, you do have many options, but my opinion is that the MM Bombardone is probably you best, most cost effective, straight through design backbox, which as I understand it, correct if I’m wrong, will give you a lovely crackle n grumble. Don’t risk making it sound too chavvy, I like the stock one tbh, but I wouldn’t say no to a Bombardone.

Definitely get a tune, I got a Quantum tune on my 2020 Turismo, made a big difference. Loads more torque. If you are going to get the back box, and whatever else takes your fancy, then a custom tune is better I would say.

I hope others out there can also give advice, especially if they have more experience with different exhausts and tunes. I’ve heard Tune4performance is good, a guy there called Tony. Also look at ******.

    Good luck man.

    Hi

To throw some more info out there.

I have a custom exhaust from BTB exhausts, it’s a single rear silencer box with two 100mm exits and fits the diffuser perfectly!
It is valved but only on one side (reduces weight by not having lots of pipe work) and is boost controlled with an actuator.
To add to that I have a decat and then a small resonator in the centre pipe.

Under 0.4bar, the valve is closed and all gases go through the silencer. It’s as quiet if not quieter than OEM but has a distinctively racier sound.
The valve opens progressively from 0.4-0.9 bar until it is fully open. This completely bypasses the rear silencer and the car sounds amazing yet still not overly loud inside the cabin (due to the resonator)

Bearing in mind the car has a full 2.5” system from turbo back with no cat. It can be respectable and as quiet as any car would need to be at any rpm dependant on throttle position. Or full race sound on full chat.

Also I had a Bluespark tuning module fitted which made a great difference, less lag, more power and a lot more shove the car dyno’d at 162bhp and 200ft lb. However I have since remapped (DK tuning) and it has made that a lot more!

Hi, another 2p worth, had a Novitec fitted to our comp, two and a half inch straight through system with four inch tail pipes, comes in three pieces so you can align it in the rear panel, sounded superb and the car got loads of comments on the sound.
