Title: TD04HL vs S260 Turbo
Post by: Richardo89 on August 01, 2021, 01:59:19 pm
Hi

I've recently bought myself a Abarth 595 Turismo which is standard.

Car is a 66 plate with 29k on the clock. I've done some online reading and have made a shopping list of parts I'm purchasing once the sale of my house goes through at the end of the month.

In regards of an uprated turbo, Most people seem to go for the TD04 or the S260. I'm looking to keep the engine block stock atm and would like 240-260bhp with the torque also being within the safe limit.

After looking online at both turbos, the only thing I noticed is that the TD04 has spacers that need installing for fitment. Both are good for the bhp/torque I'd like to achieve.

So is there any difference in performance or drive ability/reliability? as the S260 is a little more expensive

Sorry if this is a stupid question or has been answered before.Did look through the forum and wasn't able to find my answer.

Thanks Rich

Hello, I've fitted a S260 to my stock 2015 Abarth and to be honest I wish I'd bought a GT1446, the loss of low end torque makes the car much less enjoyable to drive. I'm seriously considering fitting a GT1446 in the near future.
HTH,
Dave.

An update on the turbo front. I now have a GT1446 on my car and it's much nicer to drive than when it had the
S260 on it. With the S260, there is a big lack of boost just where you would really like it. This is my daily driver
BTW, not a track day or race car.  As for the S260 vs TD04, the S260 is a straight bolt-on conversion.

You installed it to your stock abarth? So no accompanying modifications such as intercooler, induction kit, decat, bigger injectors or a remap? Well then yeah of course its gonna be worse
