595 wind noise
« on: November 23, 2012, 07:48:43 pm »
So my 595 turismo goes in today for excessive wind noise (sounds like Windows is slightly undone). It turns out the dealership need to have it for a day and a half because Abarth have acknowledged it is a problem with the 595 involving the door, bonnet , mirrors and wind screen!!!  Seems a bit weird as the 595 is the same as a 500 (which does not have the problem) just with more power bells and whistles. Any else noticed it on theirs. Absolutely love the car though and I suppose it adds to the Italian sports car character.

I have a standard A500 and yeah, it does the same thing. I can't say it comes from anywhere but the doors but it literally does make a wind noise over 65mph and it drives me nuts. It's the only thing that makes me feel like I should have bought a BMW instead!

I had the passenger window seal replaced on my A500 for wind noise.

I thought it would just be a door seal but it's not. Apparently Abarth acknowledged it was a problem yesterday.

    Hi 595 Turismo,

did you get the wind noise sorted out?  Mine is doing exactly the same thing off the passenger door.  I didn't notice it on my first trip back from the dealership but from the next day on it was definitely there.  I'm going to book it in to be looked at, but I want to finish running the engine in first - no doubt an overly enthusiastic mechanic will go out for a road test come the day it goes in.

Anyway, I just wondered what the outcome was?  Thanks

Mine has a wind noise seemingy coming from the drivers lower window seal at the B pillar end.
Have a look in there and you'll see the inner baily strip doesn't run to the back of the door.
Easy fix - just put some stick on door sponge / draft stopper in there. You only need an inch or so.

    Save's a trip to a dealer.

Can you post a picture of where you are talking about?

Mine definitely does it on both sides over 60mph. I haven't done a 'long' journey in it yet but I would be dreading it! But after having had paid so much for the car I do want to send it in to get it fixed under warranty!
