Abarth 500 insurance
« on: January 07, 2009, 06:22:15 pm »
Telephoned Fiat Insure today and they are finally quoting for the Abarth 500.
Now i'm not saying they are going to be the cheapest in the world but it will at least give you a guide price. Searching on the internet Moneysupermarket.com give you the option to get a quote but when the search finishes no insurers would quote!
Worth a quick phone call on 08448002093 just to give you a "worst case" senario.

    Cheers John - I might give them a call just out of curiosity. I called Adrian Flux yesterday and they quoted me the value of the car to insure it so I told them where to go! Elephant seem the cheapest so far but i've only managed to get a quote for a GPA from them and it's still pricey. Things aren't looking good...  :thumbd:

    This is the only time i'll ever say this but... I wish I was really old and worked in a library  8)

    Thats a great point Im-mia, adding a parent with no-claims bonus and no accidents can really lower a quote even if they have no intension of driving it.
    The quotes i got were, bearing in mind I have 0 no claims bonus (company car driver for 10 years)
    Normal production £710 fully comp
    Esse Esse £780 fully comp.
    Its not cheap but if you think that a lot of companies actually give 20-30% discount for the first years no claims it wouldn't come out too bad.

    Yeah, you're both right, thing is, I'm 20 and my dad has a claim and my mum has a conviction - adding my mum though did lower it. We shall see. It may be that i'm just too young!  :(

    Tbh though I would pay a silly amount if I could afford it - I really want one!!  ::)

    I like this   ;D

    Im-mia: Adrian Flux said it would be 3 to 4 grand to insure an Abarth 500 with me as main driver (i have no no-claims, which seems to be the issue). They didn't give me a specific price for some reason. I got a quote online the other week for a GPA with Elephant for 1700 but that has now chnaged to 5 grand!! I made no errors on the first quote either so I dunno what's going on there.

    I could get the car and insure it in my mum's name perhaps... I dunno. Are there any other specialised companies people know off? The damn insurance is the only thing holding me back! Argh  >:(

    It is annoying. Although my current policy states named drivers build up a no claims bonus. I need to look into it...

    Norwich Union  ::)

    It's nigh on impossible to speak to anyone who can speak English though.  I will get a 500 Abarth, but I will lose my mind on the way...
