Title: Abarth 595 turismo down on power!
Post by: ljmx on September 14, 2021, 06:58:38 pm

So I've had my car since December and it was boosting fine had no power issues either, however it went for its MOT a few months back and it came back totally down on power, and wasn't boosting as it should either.

Basically when boosting, it was just not holding boost it was dropping and just nowhere near as much power as before.

I have a bluespark chip, unplugged it still did the same if anything it was worse.

I took it to a local garage by me who smoke tested it and reckons he couldn't find a leak and told me to change the boost control solenoid which I did. Also it's not throwing any codes or engine management light.

It hasn't fixed the issue and the car is still really down on power. And when at high boost to me it's sounds like it's possibly leaking. I don't know but it definitely doesn't sound the same. I have a FMIC and a blow off valve also.

I was hoping you would be able to give some sort of advice, I know it's hard over email/phone to explain but I'm out of ideas and paying for parts that aren't the issue!

I don't live local to any Abarth specialists otherwise I'd go straight there my nearest one is 3 hours away! I'm
hoping someone has some ideas because I'm totally out of them!

I've basically copied and pasted an email if you're wondering of some of the wording

Hi,

Try disconnecting the neg on you battery for the evening and reconnect the following day. (Reset Ecu)
With these piggy back boxes I have experienced that overtime the cars Ecu figures out that something is increasing the cars performance and as a result the Ecu pulls power.

It’s an idea, cost you nothing to try.

Tim.
