Aerial Base removal and Part Number

Tried a search and cannot find any links so here goes....

My 5" DAB/AM/FM radio went on the blink a few weeks ago and I sprayed some switch cleaner down the antenae which has had only a temporary effect. This happened on my 2015 500S and I bit the bullet and fitted a new one. However the location on the 2018 Turismo is further underneath when I had a quick peek yesterday, I'm guessing as well as the 2 plugs in the roof lining, the roof side panels need to come out, possibly with the  back seat too? Anyone done this yet?

Also if I'm going to the trouble of stripping out the rear I may as well fit a new aerial base, does anyone have the correct part number please? I've seen one on ebay whiich lists it as suitable for my ICE but they have now got back and said it is not. Mine has 2/3 leads from what I saw under the headlining and so has the one on ebay but Main Dealer  lists a different part number yet again. The one on ebay is p/n 52008631. I'm tempted to go with it but there are no returns....its £44 so quite a bit less than the Dealer.

I guess I could remove the existing aerial, take the base to pieces and dry/check the circuit board and reseal it, it may last or I might be back with the same issue in 3 months again?

    Right I'll answer my own post!

    Removal of the aerial base was quite easy. Take out the 2 round plugs in the rear headlining and ease back the B pillar covers, if you want to take them off remove the screws under the parcel ledge bracket. These are sods to get back in so if you can just ease them back to release the headlining that helps. The plug for the aerial on mine had 2 leads, grey and white , presumably on for AM/FM and the other for DAB? The removed item was 00521053980 but I got a replacement for £40 which was OEM 0052008629. There are also 3 cable versions which I assume are for the Sat Nav cars? The centre screw holding the aerial base on is a 10mm, also try and avoid pulling the lining down to much as it will not spring back like new.

    Needless to say I took apart the dead aerial and it was damp inside so I warmed up the board and also cleaned it with IPA. If anyone wants it  as it did not look burnt out ( no guarantees) you can have it for the postage. Just to repeat this is for a 2018 AM/FM DAB ICE only.

     Welcome and thanks for creating your guide there, wasnt aware of any possible issues with damp etc , did check for a part number using my vin number but my version changed in 2012, at least ive an idea now of how to check,
