Almost there....
« on: December 05, 2008, 11:02:53 pm »
Today I received a phone call from Research inviting me to confirm on one of the first 200 white cars - I assume some of you guys received similar calls?
As it was, I've elected to wait and place a factory order for my own spec; the order book for which they hoped should open in 2-3 weeks

Only that the first 200 were £15,000 with a spec that's pretty much covered in other threads

But this is still a guess price wise from the dealer?

£15k is too much money for this car imo.

No, it didn't appear to be a guess price when he told me on Friday.

As for what you think it's worth, well a MINI cooper works is around £21k and there's people paying that, so it's hard to say what the car is worth to some. Me? Given this has leather, wheel upgrade and other features, its seems ball park IMO.

£15000 is where I would guess the price is as well, but it is definately a guess. Spoke to Abarth on Friday and there was still no official price available.

Chumley Have to agree with you especially after the prices of the Mini, which in my opinion, has lost the cool factor totally, and the new shape makes the front look like a slightly deformed version of its predecessor.

Don't see the comparison with the BMW MINI, it was always aimed at aspirational people hence its high price.

As in thinking they are driving more of a BMW than a MINI.

Snap mate, hate them. Really like the interiors though, but they are common as heck now, something I fear with the 500!

The handling and feel of Mini's is the benchmark for this sector though.
The A500 had better be pretty near if it wants to capture some of this market.

...but what monkey would compare an Abarth with a 200+ bhp Mini?
The comparison should be a Cooper with Chilli pack, similar performance and spec.
Still seems too dear to me....it's 'only' a FIAT!

So what price exactly did you have in mind, if the £13,500 base price is too much?

Like many people I have been waiting a long time for this car. Originally 12.5K was banded around. A fair price compared to the equivelent Mini. I would like contact from my dealer or Abarth to confirm 13.5K.
At the weekend I was in Wales for Rally GB and in a local newspaper the reporter was quoting Abarth as under £14K and delivery by End of February.
That makes the first 200 more than £15K. Too much I think in the curent climate or not enough performance for the price.

So what price exactly did you have in mind, if the £13,500 base price is too much?

The "under £14k" came from this press release.

The first 200 cars are only likely to be £15k because of the options.  Are you saying that the £13.5k base price is too much?
