Turbo issue?
« on: February 28, 2021, 04:48:39 pm »
Hi guys,

New here, but I'm having a problem with my 595 and I'm wondering if anyone has had it before..

The turbo is a little intermittent, at times it's absolutely perfect, but recently (started the morning after a timing belt change) the boost just drops from wherever it is on the gauge to 0.2, and doesn't go above that. It's been looked at by the local garage, but there were no fault codes on the system at all, no lights on the dash, and when they checked the turbo and everything attached to it, there were no issues with anything.

I'm hoping someone has had this issue before?

Thanks in advance

Typically low or missing boost pressure is a result of either a faulty turbine, oil starvation or an air leak.

If your local garage can't find the culprit, find a turbo specialist, they will also be able to rebuild your turbo if needed.

Thanks for that, it's going to the garage in the morning because it's now just pulled a check engine light and quite a big vibration.

Here's to hoping the bill stays manageable!!

Keep us posted on what they find.

Turbo's can be sensitive little things. My moms VW Golf had a rusted stuck wastegate, the dealer quoted the old lady +€3500 replace turbo and they were so baffled when I said I wanted the turbo out and I would bring it back refurbished, that they accidentally said yes. They never do that and quickly offerd that I could buy a refurbished one from them for total cost of €2500.

No thank you, and off I went withthe turbo and it came back in better condition than new and total cost including turo in and out at dealer and refurbished turbo was less than €1500.

Always remember you have options and with turbo's a refurbished is as good as new if done at the right specialist. They rebuild everything on it.
