ECU
« on: November 08, 2010, 07:02:52 pm »
Does anyone know if the ECU holds engine data, i.e max revs, speed, G sensors etc?

    No it doesn't.
All that sort of data is held by the body computer.
Its a mis conception that the ECU is the main "brain" in the car, the body computer controls all of the subsystems (ecu, airbags modules etc) on the car.

Isn't there like five computers on the car in total?

FIVE  :o I hope there not running windows

Five is good, our Land Rover has 21, when the sensor that determines what gear its in plays up at least half of them get confused and light the dash up like a christmas tree!

Simple = better in some cases.

But proper adjustable intermittent would be nice if they are going to add complexity (can you tell who spent several hours on the motorway network yesterday)

    Wrong Land Rover then  ;D

The last Land Rover was build in November 1998, that's when they stopped making the 300tdi.

Sorry, slightly off topic but I'm an anorak when it comes to green oval
