Exhaust replacement
« on: September 17, 2020, 04:52:42 pm »
Hi all, soon I will need to replace the exhaust on my Abarth 500 EsseEsse. It's the twin-pipe stock exhaust and made in mild steel, so it's rusting and the back-box is delaminating. It's still legal at present but not sure it will see another winter or MOT. It's lasted 7 years so I guess that's not bad for mild steel

Peoples thoughts would be much appreciated on a replacement - is a stainless steel one the way to go? I'm not looking for more power or a Monza, as I like the sound it currently makes and performance is plenty. It's more about durability and maybe eventual sale. The stock replacement exhaust I'm told is available only through the main dealer and that seems expensive in my mind. Also, I'm not up for fitting myself - those days are over, been there, done that!

Any recommendations and experiences will be warmly received.

Thanks!!
Ciao Alessandra!

You could try placing a wanted ad in classifieds here, about 8yrs ago I bought new oe rear box for roughly £80 I think, from esseesse owner who had monza box fitted when his car brand new. Fitted it just last week, got 10.5yrs with my original, as you say, delaminating and rusting, sounded very much like monza the more it deteriorated. But got through  last 4 mot tests til changed. Or search ebay etc.. :thumb:
