Failing wheel bearing ?
« on: March 12, 2020, 02:45:25 pm »

Noticed last week I started to hear a slight droning/groaning/whirring noise (dunno how to best describe it) which appears to be coming from the back. Nothing can be heard on start-up or revving from standstill but the noise appears after a few minutes driving. Its fairly constant when moving irrespective of engine speed but seems to increase with road speed. I hear the sound clearer when coasting in neutral. It sounds very much like an early days wheel bearing on the way out.

Do people agree ?

How easy is it to replace myself ? Any special tools required ?

Try jacking the back wheels off the ground and spinning them to test for noise or vibration.

New bearings are bolt on with hubs :thumb:

Cheers for that. I'll try this weekend. Sounds easy enough to change the hub...but I suppose the hub/bearing assembly is gonna be expensive  :(
