Finally collected my Turismo today :-) Modified 3rd/4th synchro’s have been fitted. The noise has gone and it is driving well!  Whilst I was disappointed and frustrated that the initial repair did not fix the fault.   I am very grateful for the support I got from the service manager at Motorvogue.  So happy to have my car back!

Abarth appear to getting back on top of the problem. :thumb:

    Hi all !.

I decided to pop back into the forums to see if there been any new updates on my original post. Got to be honest, I'm kind of shocked that this issue is still cropping up on new cars that people are buying this year. Clearly Abarth/Fiat don't know which batch of gearbox's are defective and are just hoping for the best.

My own saga only finished about 4 weeks ago, when I was finally able to go and retrieve my belongings from the car. The 595 had been on the inspection ramps (with the engine braced since Feb) and it wasn't safe to retrieve my stuff. They FINALLY got a new gearbox and fitted it after 4 MONTHS !.

Regardless, I bought a new MX-5 RF from Western Mazda (never again Arnold Clark) and I'm now enjoying some open top motoring.

Hopefully everyone gets a satisfactory outcome, but what I would say is that if you can live with having a new gearbox or gearbox components fitted to a new car, contact Abarth Customer Service and enquire about getting an extended warranty. That's what they were offering me as compensation.

    Best of luck everyone.

Car's now been with Parks East Kilbride for 2 1/2 weeks. Car would have been in earlier, but it took 5 weeks to source a courtesy car; not an Abarth, obviously, but a 70 plate Micra which drives as if it's on it's last legs. 6000 very hard miles it seems. Anyway, they've diagnosed it as being the flywheel moving laterally. They advise no gearbox damage but that the clutch will be replaced along with the flywheel. After much chasing by me, now found out that the clutch has been delivered. Flywheel?  Who knows; they'll let me know. ::) Really missing not seeing the bright yellow thing in my driveway. Neighbours seem to be missing it too, based on the number of comments about the noise the Micra makes! :thumbd:

Well that's over 6 weeks that Parks have had my car now. Clutch and flywheel replaced; noise still there. Gearbox is being sent to a 'specialist'. I told the Workshop Manager to get them to look at Abarth Forums to find out what to do!. Abarth Customer Services and FCA Finance are now involved. ACS have been pretty useless tbh, albeit they told me they were having 'issues' getting responses from Parks. FCA Finance were pretty good. Although the car was new mid March, I'd advised Parks of the 'noise' at beginning of April, so FCA Finance said that I could still, potentially. reject the car. They're going to contact the dealer and Abarth, apparently. I'm booked to do NC500 at end of August. At the moment Parks seem to think that a Nissan Micra is an acceptable replacement for the tour ::). On my tour, I won't obviously post pictures of the Micra on twitter, instagram, facebook tagging Parks and Abarth. Actually thinking of getting an Abarth sticker for the Micra..................

    Hi guys

New here, I’ve been following this thread as looks like I have the same symptoms.

See video I recorded yesterday. Anyone confirm this is the same sounds others have in this thread?

Have it booked in with my local dealer (Stoneacre) in two weeks time.

Yeah, that's the noise I get. It's not a 'chatter' imo, its more like a scraping noise. Presume your 'noise' disappears when you dip the clutch?
Get Stoneacre to contact Abarth Technical.
Parks, East Kilbride, ignored my suggestion to contact them when I dropped the car off. I'd told them about this site and I'd actually sent them the link along with other comments on the Abarth Facebook pages.
Instead, they stripped everything down, replaced the clutch and flywheel, reassembled it; noise still there.......
Gearbox out and sent to a specialist company; Abarth weren't impressed when I told them that.
    Apparently, gearbox looked ok........
50 days after I dropped my car off, Abarth Customer Care told them to contact Abarth Technical, twice in 2 separate calls apparently.
Meantime my car is still sitting, on a ramp, not repaired. I leave this weekend on a NC500 tour; looks like no Abarth.
It's ok though; Parks gave me a Nissan Micra as a suitable replacement.
You really couldn't make it up.  ;D

Reading through the logs it would appear some dealers are better than others.. Arnold Clark definitely not a place to go by the sounds of it. I assume this fault only affects manual models not auto unless someone tells us different. I hope all you guys with indifferent dealers get things sorted. It makes interesting reading especially on where to buy my next Abarth although my Turismo is only 18 months old.

Tbh, I bought my last Abarth from AC at Paisley. For warranty work they were actually pretty good; got 2 shocks and a top mount replaced with no argument whatsoever. My only real issue was whether or not Selenia was used at servicing. They told me it was but there's always that nagging doubt at the back of your mind ::) One of the techs was old enough to be a mechanic (if u know what I mean). He always dealt with my car and, as far as I could see from when I chatted to him in the workshop, most of the other Abarths they got in.

Quick update. Parks called me this afternoon. Abarth Technical have told them to replace 3rd and 4th gear synchros; something I told them when I dropped the car off 51 days ago.
Anyhoos, just need to sort out an appropriate courtesy car for my NC500 trip. Tbh, Abarth CS just keep telling me they can't get me an Abarth, which is really starting to irk. Parks keep telling me the same. Makes you wonder; does anyone actually give a f### if you have an issue? Only joking, of course they don't  :thatsit:

Sorry for your troubles Abarth do need to do something about dealers in Scotland we’re stuck with only 2 both with poor reputations. I have bought 2 Abarths the first a manual from Arnold Clark my current car is an MTA from Parks I am sorry to say there won’t be a third.

    ## Update ##
Collected my car on Friday; a mere 67 days after dropping it off. :-X
It was like picking it up in March when I bought it, except it was dirty. To be fair, it's been ceramic coated so I'd told them not to wash it.
    All seems well  :thumb:

A bit late to this post but I have a march 2021 tourismo and getting exactly same thing and def aworse when temp gets down to freezing.

My car just had its first service and told my dealer about it who said could hear anything. But here’s the thing. When I collected car, I discovered another Amarth on the ramp with gearbox noise I discovered from a mechanic.  I then discussed this with the service assistant who then revealed that they have had a number of Abarth owners reporting the same issue.

My car is going in again to be checked
