Help! playing music through my phone via blue & me

Hi guys

I made a post a few weeks back regarding aux cable input in my Abarth. I discovered I don't have one but I was recommended one of these:

Can somebody explain to me how this works once plugged in? Does music start playing through the radio once your phone is connected to it?
There are no buttons on my radio to select the USB port (like there would be for an aux input) so I want to make sure this will 100% work in my car if I buy it, as it's £50 and I don't want it to be useless!

    How old is your car?
    If it's an 11 plate or newer you shouldn't need that.

    It will still have B&M, they always did but pre 2011 (ish) they needed that adapter to allow the car to make sense of the music on your phone.
    You just pop the adaptor into the usb slot and then plug you phone into the dongle and away you go.
    It should just pop up on the radio screen as AUX and start playing.
