Title: Help please !! Abarth underpowered and not boosting correct after service.
Post by: vasjot on July 17, 2020, 11:59:54 pm
Hi all. I'm new to the forums so forgive me if this has been asked before.Hope your doing well. Needed some help actually. I've got a 2011 Abarth 500 with a TMC tuning box. I had it serviced with genuine abarth parts which I'd bought off the TMC website which included spark plugs, Selenia oil, Oil filter and pollen and air filters. The car used to run great and was very strong before the service and used to boost up to 1.2 bar. It also used to bang sometimes as it has the Monza. However after the service it's running very underpowered. It doesn't boost past 0.4 bar and feels like it's hitting a brick wall. Doesn't feel as fast and feels as if its running without a turbo. I had it checked out the by the guys who had done the service. They've checked everything they did to the car including boost pipes and turbo. They even took off the TMC tuning box but when they did that it only revved up to 4k almost as if its in limp mode. I'm not really sure what to do. Any ideas ?

Would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Sounds like the Mass AirFlow Meter (MAF) to me.

It could have been damaged, or is dirty and could be just a conincidence that the car is doing this after being serviced

Try disconnecting the batt for a couple of hours to reset ecu.

There are a few vacuum pipes around oil filter area, possible that theres a split in hose not noticed, not exactly lots of room to get at filter housing, check closely with good inspection lamp. Other than that if airfilter housing not lifted from engine correctly its not unheard of for the plastic mounting pin to break, this is part of inlet manifold and would affect pressures, would likely throw engine management warning light on though.

Hi all. Thanks for all the replies took it to a specialist up in Leighton buzzard and it turned out to be a failed Dump Valve. Replaced it and now runs like a dream.

Thanks
