Impressive MPG
« on: September 08, 2013, 07:12:46 pm »
Took it on it's first M25 no-traffic motorway run this morning, constant 65-70mph, 80 miles and showed 53.3mpg overall. Reset trip, and sat in a bit of traffic on the return run, in appalling rain with aircon on and still showing 50.0mpg!!

Coming from a V6 MKII TT Roadster, that would give 34mpg on a good day, I'm literally astounded how good the A500 is on fuel - in Sport mode too!

I think 53mpg is amazing, anyone had higher?

To put that in perspective, the same trip in the TT would have cost £45 in fuel, today it's cost me £20 ... :thumb:

Regardless of cost, which was more fun? Not fastest but most fun?  :P

1 tank of petrol for a cup of coffee with friends is money well spent, 2 tanks is extravagant ;D

The TT was a really boring drive believe it or not. Felt nose heavy and not very safe, DSG  too so I never really felt like 'I' was driving 'It'. Driving the A500 is like hanging on for dear life over a cliff.

Still getting used to it but it's a hoot round the country lanes where I live. Trying to get used to the steering, it is a bit weird but I'm sure I will soon.

I drove a tt a golf gti and scirocco when I wanted to change my 3 mps all felt like my mazda fast, clinical, blunt sledgehammers, drove the abarth and it was like the old days of classic hot hatches, agree on the steering it's very strange at first but as soon used to it

I had a Golf GTi (Mk5) before the TT which didn't help, that thing, I maintain is the best handling hot hatch on the market. Incredible.

The A500 is more banzai, less controlled and that's why it's such a hoot - you can feel every MPH!!

Have you got the Koni FSD Suspension? if not, you probably would appreciate the upgrade, transforms the car!

No just the standard A500 set up.

Would be nice to get the Koni upgrade, but I'm guessing that's ££££

I want a remap and filter first, the ride is bearable for now :)

It's beginning to become a long list ...

    - White Bulb replacements
    - Remap
    - Filter
    - Exhaust
    - Koni's

That wasn't the idea ... lol

I've got a TT 3.2 DSG now. Amazing when I first got it, but simply getting in and out is annoying. I love my cars to be mint, but no matter how hard you try you scuff the door sills.
Just went to Bournemouth from Wigan for football & £100 each way.
May be quicker, but the 595 certainly wouldn't be left behind from a standing start or around the bends.

Running costs fuel & tax on the TT were a joke, and shocking reliability. Two window regulator failures and a broken roof in the six months I owned it. Terrible!!

    Had to go!
