New owner and additional security measures
« on: June 12, 2021, 07:54:21 pm »
Hi I'm taking the Abarth plunge and car arrives this week a 595c Turismo Mta 2019 in grey .I was going to look into additional security and was thinking of a steering wheel lock as my first move .Does anybody on the forum recommend a light weight lock that would fit .
Many thanks paul

In addition to the visual deterrent of the steering lock think about an OBD port blocker stops thieves using plug in OBD readers,

I have been pondering over my new abarth, was going to just get a kill switch, but have got a autowatch ghost 2. Car is not going anywhere unless i put a pin in, plus tassa approved. Not going to help if its picked up but hey, its something

I got my Campovolo Grey Turismo on June 1st and already had a Stoplock Elite Pro pre-bought for the car.

It fits nicely and has the highest security rating of all the similar steering wheel locks.

I also fitted a dummy OBD socket  which will not fool a determined thief but will delay them.

Had a guy round yesterday to measure for new carpets, he saw my Abarth on my drive and was telling me about his....then 3 months later his was stolen from his house.
So it's really got me thinking

Is there any update on security these days for our pride and joy?

I looked at all the options...the OBD locks look good but
Imagine the damage a would be thievery would do before giving up
So in my mind the best way to stop a would be thievery is visual
So I got a Stoplock elite pro....its the only one that fits our steering wheel
On one  is getting that sucka off

That's what I ended up doing a few months ago, getting the Stoplock Elite Pro. If someone wants to nick it they will.

At the end of the day I'd rather the car get stolen and vanish, the insurance pay out and then I get another car, than be left with a car with left with trashed stripped car.

I have a Cobra car alarm (now Vodafone) fitted the A4615 alarm works with the car remote. This is a Cat1 alarm.

The steering wheel lock is a good visable deterant.
